GOP leaders let demagogues set tone, lawmaker says [Barf Alert]

WASHINGTON -- Too many Republican leaders are acquiescing to a poisonous "demagoguery" that threatens the party's long-term credibility, says a veteran GOP House member who was defeated in South Carolina's primary last month.

While not naming names, 12-year incumbent Rep. Bob Inglis suggested in interviews with The Associated Press that tea party favorites such as former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and right-wing talk show hosts like Glenn Beck are the culprits.

He cited a claim made famous by Palin that the Democratic health care bill would create "death panels" to decide whether elderly or sick people should get care.

"There were no death panels in the bill ... and to encourage that kind of fear is just the lowest form of political leadership. It's not leadership. It's demagoguery," said Inglis, one of three Republican incumbents who have lost their seats in Congress to primary and state party convention challengers this year.

It appears Inglis is attempting to endear himself to liberals for “life after Congress.”

They say , don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

This RINO clown just hit himself in the butt with that door.

What an idiot. Torn to pieces by his own votes and manner and he still doesnt get the message.

Palin and Beck may not be what the people want but their message is right on, their Conservatism is unquestioned , and we dont want any more RINO’s. You can either get on the bandwagon or get left behind.

The voters by a wide margin don't agree with both you and Obama, Bob.

He voted against it but he was clear that he favored a different flavor. He wanted to force everyone to buy health care. The alternative, he said, was to “let people bleed to death on the hospital steps”.

In a health care town hall, he related a story about a guy at his church who went four wheeling, didn’t wear a helmet and got a head injury then died. His family couldn’t afford all the bills and his church couldn’t raise enough money for all the bills. Inglis then said that we should all chip in to help people like him. I’m left there wondering, “Gee Bob, if your church couldn’t raise enough money, what makes you think the people who go to my church can?”

At the end of the town hall, the week after he made the dumb statements about Glenn Beck, he instead decided to go after Pat Buchanan. It just sounded lame. He couldn’t even finish the attack and instead mumbled through it.

Frankly I think Bob is going through something of a mid-life crisis. I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays in Washington.
