The October Surprise is Coming
The American Thinker ^ | July 13, 2010 | Pamela Geller

Posted on 07/14/2010 7:05:39 AM PDT by Jack Black

The October Surprise. We all know it's coming. In what shape, idea, form -- who's to say? Evil always surprises. Its goals are constant, the ultimate objective never changes, but inevitably it manifests itself as the savior of the day, the savior of man. The 2008 Democrat October Surprise that ushered in the first hardcore radical post-American president in American history was the "economic collapse." Oh yes, that was a beaut.

The time before that, the moochers and the looters tried to fake Bush documents -- except that the conservative blogosphere caught them red-handed, so they missed their mark.

But the party of haters, infiltrators, anti-capitalists, the party that is anti-freedom and anti-individual rights, is going to have to pull off something really catastrophic to stay in power this November. And they will, because it is abundantly clear now that they despise the premise of America and they mean to replace it with statism, the source of untold, incomprehensible human misery for centuries.

Ayn Rand wrote of statism that

a statist system -- whether of a communist, fascist, Nazi, socialist or 'welfare' type -- is based on the ... government's unlimited power, which means: on the rule of brute force. ... Under statism, the government is not a policeman, but a legalized criminal that holds the power to use physical force in any manner and for any purpose it pleases against legally disarmed, defenseless victims.

With chilling prescience, Rand said, "The basic principle and the ultimate results of all statist doctrines are the same: dictatorship and destruction. The rest is only a matter of time."

Only a matter of time.

We have a long and terrible fight in front of us. The fight is as big as the idea, the foundation, the being of this great nation, the fight for America. Yes, it's as big as all that, and the enemy is ruthless, unscrupulous, and evil -- and willing to do whatever it takes to assume absolute control. They build nothing, produce nothing, create nothing, invent nothing. They steal. They demand. They demoralize. They are destroyers.

What will October's Surprise be? Political analyst Jack Wheeler has an idea. "A Second Great Depression," he says, "is the Democrat Party's path to power":

Our country is faced with an impending economic catastrophe, a Second Great Depression. It is being brought about on purpose by a political party that cares only for keeping and expanding its power, and looks upon prosperity as a threat to that power.

You think the Democrats aren't really that bad? Think again. Wheeler points out that they're "now being threatened with being thrown out of power." And what did they do when faced with a loss of power the last time? "If that party is evil enough and fascist enough to cause an economic catastrophe," Wheeler says, "it is certainly evil and fascist enough to cause a physical catastrophe, an Ultimate October Surprise, that will frighten and enrage voters enough to preserve its power in November."

Wheeler speculates that this could take the form of "another 9/11, a massively horrific terrorist attack, perhaps even nuclear." Or it could involve Obama's obvious and gross mishandling of the Gulf oil crisis, the full extent of which is (of course) being covered up in the lapdog media. And whom would the Democrats blame for whatever crisis they trump up? Whom else? The attack will be used, Wheeler suggests, "to raise suspicion about the dangerous Tea Party people and anyone who is 'anti-government,' enough for people to rally around their Zero-led government in fear and confusion." And it will ultimately provide "further rationales for emergency government powers."

Could this really happen? Well, we know there have been October Surprises in the past, and each election ups the ante. We have to make sure this doesn't happen. We are Americans. We are free people. We must resist. As one reader of my website, AtlasShrugs.com, wrote to me, "the political tools of truth, exposure, ridicule, disparagement, impeachment, criminal prosecution, and politically-incorrect anger must be added to our arsenal of peaceful weapons against tyranny. ... We must make history by living our freedom, or surely we will die."

And we have seen the Democratic Party decimate our health care system, banking industry, and automobile sector, and introduce sharia (Islamic) finance into the public sector. They are capable of anything.

Yes. And there is some comfort to be found in the fact that decent, rational men, statesmen, exist and speak the truth. They represent our last hope, a vestige of reason and sanity in this era of the modern barbarian. These are the men who need to take the reins of their respective nations. Bolton 2012: The stakes couldn't be higher.

Obama seems strangely unconcerned about the midterms. Maybe he knows something we don't.

Or maybe he's just a narcissistic dope.

I have stated for months here on FR that a catastrophe will occur before the Nov elections which will prevent the elections. Just what for it takes is the question. Better be prepared.

I have never seen a sitting president show concerns about mid-term elections publically. I bet Obozo’s stomach is tied in knots privately.

Good point. I am trying to remember back whether Clinton’s “move to the center” (feigned or real) started before the midterm results came in.

PROGRESS REPORT: WINNING THE SENATE
By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN
Published on DickMorris.com on July 12, 2010

Seven months ago, the conventional wisdom was that, while the Republicans would score impressive gains in both houses of Congress in the elections of 2010, the Democrats would keep control. Now, it is that the Republicans may, indeed, capture the House, but never the Senate. Presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs admitted that the loss of the House was a possibility.

The conventional wisdom is still wrong. The Republicans will take the Senate and the House.

Here’s the Senate rundown:

Retiring Republicans

The GOP has six retiring incumbents. Kentucky and Kansas are no problem. In Missouri, Republican Roy Blunt is ahead and, in Ohio, Republican Ron Portman is slightly ahead. In New Hampshire, the Republicans have a fierce primary, but, trust us, if even Massachusetts went Republican, New Hampshire won’t go Democrat. In Florida, Republican Rubio is in a tough race against turncoat former Republican Crist, but he will eventually pull through.

Easy Pickups: Delaware, Indiana, Arkansas, North Dakota

Republicans hold a commanding lead in the three open seats and a double digit lead over Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas.

The Balance of Power States:

Pennsylvania

Republican Pat Toomey is pulling ahead of Democrat Joe Sestak. Likely GOP pickup.

Colorado

Both parties have primaries but either Republican beats either Democrat. Another pickup.

Nevada

Despite a negative pounding, Sharron Angle is still ahead of Reid and Harry is decidedly under 50% of the vote in all polls. Probably Harry loses

Illinois

Tied race between Republican Mark Kirk and Democrat Giannoulais. Could go either way.

California

Carly Fiorina is only 3 pts behind Barbara Boxer and Boxer is under 50% and has been all year. Could go either way

Washington State

Republican Dino Rossi is tied with incumbent Patty Murray and Murray is under 50%. Could go either way.

Wisconsin

Republican Ron Johnson who is not well known, is very close to Russ Feingold in the polls. Russ is still ahead but Johnson has a very good shot.

So of the seven balance of power states, the Republicans have to pick up six to take the Senate. We probably will. In fact, the trend out there is so strong, the economy so bad, the Afghan War such bad news, the oil spill so awful that we likely win all seven.

Want to help?

Carly Fiorina has enough money on her own. But Sharron Angle (Nevada), Mark Kirk (Illinois), Dino Rossi (Washington State), and Ron Johnson (Wisconsin) need help.

Of this list, two need funds immediately. Angle needs help to counter the ferocious Reid negative ads. Reid has put $1 million behind a lying negative ad which uses a highly edited tape of Angle saying she wants to “phase out Social Security and Medicare.” What Sharron really said was that she wanted to phase out the method of funding which permits Harry Reid and co. to raid the fund to pay for their deficit. But, as Churchill said, a lie makes it halfway around the world before the truth gets its shoes on in the morning. Due to responses from previous mailings, the rebuttal now has $150,000 behind it, but we need more. Urgently.

And...Dino Rossi in Washington State is facing Patty Murray in a unique primary on August 20th. In Washington, all candidates run on the same ballot and the top Republican then faces the top Democrat in November. If Rossi, who has a primary, can top Murray, who doesn’t, he will show that he can win and will get huge national support. A little money now could put this race on ice.

The Republican Party will win the Senate. We just need to all mobilize and send our checks where and when they will do the most good.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY
THANK YOU!

One thing that must be done is to show the liberals that socialism and communism will destroy not only conservatives but it will destroy them also. For some reason, the left doesn’t see this. The only ones that win under socialism are the ones at the top of the ladder. Everyone that helped them get to the top will be destroyed along with everyone else.

Can’t imagine what sort of october surprise that could save them short of one that cancels the election entirely. Nobody looks to this admin and congress for national security, so a terrorist attack is going to make people want to change even more. An economic crisis like the one that occurred in october 08....well...that only hurts the admin in power.

I have no doubt they will try something, the only thing more dangerous than a leftist seeking power is one trying to retain power.

There is no catastrophe larger than that of this current group of felons in charge that is large enough to prevent the election. Any attempt on their part to do so will be considered an act of war upon the American people for which they will pay dearly. Re-election will be the most minimal worry they will have to deal with.

I don’t think Obama cares too much if Dems lose congress. he has already passed more leftist policies than Clinton and Carter combined and appointed two marxist Justices (I assume Kagan gets through). Besides, if Dems lose in Nov, then O and State Media can blame GOP for everything.

That said, I expect O to push to some minor “tax cut” and make a big deal of it. True October event might be hawkisk foreign policy, e.g. attack on Iran.

A Second Great Depression,” he says, “is the Democrat Party’s path to power...”

STFU. Stop The Federal Usurpation. Federal usurpation of individual state rights continues to erode and to limit the ability of state governments to operate according to their own citizen’s directives. Since, as the original intent of the Constitution directed, the best government is one which governs closer to the people and Federal Usurpation is the greatest threat we face today, it is time to tell Washington to STFU.

The brilliance of the “New World Order” is that the prospect is vague and amorphous enough that even the lowliest ‘useful idiot’ can - and does - visualize himself ending up ‘at the top’...

There are going to be a lot of surprised people in the Gulags.....

What will October’s Surprise be? Political analyst Jack Wheeler has an idea. “A Second Great Depression,” he says, “is the Democrat Party’s path to power”

It is the path to power for the Federal Government...R or D...we need conservatives in power, not Republicans.

We’ll probably win big in November, but we’ll lose in the long run because those that win this time will not be allowed to right the ship, and correct the problem...Thus a lot of the support to gain the majority back will errode just in time for the 2012 election giving us another 4 years of Obama...

The worst thing is the very real possibility of another successful (and more devastating) terrorist attack on this country...I hope I am wrong, I want to be wrong, but I find myself feeling I won’t be surprised if it happens...

This country will come unglued, and it is going to be hard, if not impossible to get it back together the way it was before the “big one”...

And that is exactly what Obama and his ilk want to have happen...
