Bush memoirs delayed, say friends
Drudge/FT ^ | August 4 2010 | Edward Luce

George W. Bush insisted that publication of his forthcoming memoirs, “Decision Points”, which will elaborate on 10 key decisions that the self-dubbed “Decider” took in office, be put back until after the midterm elections, according to people close to the former president.

Mr Bush has maintained a studious silence since leaving office and has declined, in sharp contrast to Dick Cheney, his former vice-president, to criticise Barack Obama, the US president, over the past 18 months.

According to friends of Mr Bush, he resisted plans by the publisher to launch the book in September, which is traditionally a better time to maximise sales.

His friends say that Mr Bush, whose two terms in office remain unpopular among most Americans, did not want to insert himself into the midterm election campaign, where Republicans are expected to make big gains. The book will be published on November 9, a week after the polls. Mr Bush will give his first full interview to NBC on November 8.

The book was not supposed to come out until November as far as I know

Not helpful. The leaks will be the focus in October.

GWB needs to postpone the release (and it's leaks) until December.

He doesn't need the money.

W never really liked conservatives. We're sorta "poor trash" white and otherwise. He would never take up for us. That "noblesse oblige" stuff, where he got to noblesse and we ended up with all the oblige.

He made this to-do once about Texas not being southern. Excuse me? One of the Confederate states? Dixie played at football games? Maybe he spent more time in Maine than in Odessa, but Texas is southwestern by way of the south. The founders were from Tennesse.

That was insulting to the rest of the south, which put him into office.

I'll bet Harriet Miers was Laura's idea.

George W Bush is one of the reasons The One is such a threat. No Power was too great for the Chimp said the BushBots. Well look who has all those powers handed W now? Good grief Bush couldn't even run through bills on GOP majority. Bush is almost as Liberal on many things as Al Gore. Yea every DEM will have a picture of W hanging up with a Caption “Thanks George we couldn’t have done it without your help”. This nation has not had a decent POTUS looking out for the USA's interest first since Reagan.

I will agree she was not a good fit as a politcal wife, but I doubt she is influencing this move. He is a good man imo and I believe the claims in the article.

And if you have RDS (Reagan Derangement Syndrome) you will come to the conclusion that Reagan was a liberal

I had to laugh when I read that..! LOL Reptilian dragons- that’s funny when applied to some of our resident malcontents. G. Bush could go around with a halo around his head, and some of these people would say it was tarnished or that it was crooked! In other words, he couldn’t do anything right in their eyes, sadly.

You could give them a list of the things he did right, and they’ll simply point out he messed up on immigration, or that he spent too much money, etc... Then they either won’t talk about him at all or it’s that he helped Obama get in. There’s no use arguing with them!

good man...woefully poor president...a dupe of wall street who slept at the switch while the economy hurtled towards the precipice...started an unnecessary war by confusing his family’s personal gripe against a dictator with the national interests of the United States of America.

Just go away George. You are among the bottom ten American presidents and have zero chance of being rehabilitated.

I'm guessing that the Bush handlers had let the publisher set the timetable, and the publishers timed the release to be in the week before the election.

Once the Bush handlere got wind of this, they demanded that the book be delayed until after the election.

I still expect the publishers to leak the juciest parts before the election.

Remember, the Bushes (all of them) are tone-deaf when it comes to reading the political pulse of those around them.

It's not a new date. It was never scheduled to come out in September because President Bush did not want to be involved in the political season.

The book will be available November 9, one week after we throw the bums out of office.

Reading Comprehension = 3; Misery Index = 8

President Bush owes us nothing. He served this nation courageously for fourteen years and was spat on continously for doing so. He's retired and deserves every peaceful moment he finds.
