Did 35,000 Scouts Boo Obama?

The National Boy Scout Jamboree ended, Wednesday, and President Obama broke a quasi-tradition by declining to address the Scouts.

The quadrennial event has been held at Fort A.P. Hill near Washington D.C. since 1981. This year's event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the organization.

In lieu of an appearance at the 10-day-long Jamboree, Obama appeared on the View, attended several Democrat fundraisers and visited Detroit.

He did send a short videotaped message which reportedly was shown in a mix of several other presentations. When the president appeared he was roundly booed by the 35,000 Scouts, one man who was there said.

I don’t think Obama is going to get the Scout vote?

I know that. I’ll ask again. Should a Boy Scout, who should be an exemplar of that internal character as codified by the Boy Scout Handbook and shown through his actions, show reverence to a leader who is the antithesis of the Boy Scout Handbook?

Should a Boy Scout show reverence to a Renegade (that’s the Secret Service name for that impostor POSOTUS) who has no respect for the Boy Scout organization or the Godly ideals that each Scout strives to imbue into their soul and taught by the Boy Scout leadership? Is this wannabe Prez worthy of any respect based on who he is, who his friends and allies are, his ideals, and his goal of destroying this country? Should Boy Scouts respect an individual who is in the process of destroying this country as fast as he can with the help of his Leftist cronies and thugs?

Should a Boy Scout respect those who promote evil?

I attended the 50th in 1960 (Colorado Springs)...will never forget Ike riding and waving from a convertible as it drove thru the giant tent city.

Had I been present, I would have been one of the Scout leaders who turned my back on the President.

Is it true he isn’t signing the certificates that traditionally go out to Eagle Scouts?

“I have a confession. I have been around a long time. Never in all my years have I ever been a hater of anyone or anything.”

It’s my understanding that there are some who don’t hate the present POtuS and are staunch conservatives ... I can’t reconcile this ... my mind rejects the concept or forces me into believing in some sort of zen political state of mind far beyond my comprehension ... personally, I would not “make water” for him were he to burst into flame in front of my joy filled eyes.

I don't know. I can't believe that even he would be that dumb.

Reverence is toward God, not an individual.

As defined by BSA:
A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others.

Is the Obama worthy of my respect? No. He is all the things that you say he is.

Would I BOO him while in my Scouter uniform? No, due to my respect for Scouting.

If I am OK to BOO him, why not throw a tomato, why not throw a rock, why not run up on stage and assault him?

A Scout is Obedient.
A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobeying them.

If the ideals of Scouting can not be reconciled with your view of respecting the Office of the President, perhaps you should not support the BSA.

Any boy Scout who boos a President of the US, no matter who he/she is, would be, and should be, in trouble.

“A scout is courteous” is one of the points of the Scout Law. I can’t imagine that may scouts would like Obama, I also can’t imagine that booing the President would be tolerated.

Not only did the Democrats boo the Boy Scouts, they flat out AMBUSHED THEM. They only invited them to the convention so they could shame them as they carried the colors down the aisle.

There’s a special place in the afterlife for such scum.

I am a scoutmaster from the national jamboree from the north east region, this arena show had an audience of over 100,000 people.
45,000 Boy Scouts, 20 to 30,000 adult scouters, the rest were visitors.
Here is what I saw and heard at the conclusion of what I would call the president's public service announcement, almost complete silence, you could have heard a pin drop! Many of the Scout leaders turned and faced the crowd during the announcement, about 5% of the crowd and mostly non uniformed spectators were booing the president,of the several thousand scouts around me and my troop of 36 the scouts were sad and silent.
However, a short time later, Dirty Job's Mike Rowe stepped on the stage and received a standing, cheering ovation from nearly all 100,000 in the arena. In addition, each scout had been given an United States Flag, and at the conclusion of the presidents video taped message you could barely see one flag in the sea of scouts, and at the ovations for Mike Rowe the flags were high and waving!
If that does not provide some irony I do not know what does.

From my understand the video from the president was played even before the main body of scouts were present.

His speech was not featured as part of the main body of the evenings festivities.

BTW welcome to FRee Republic.

...and thank you for your input.
