WASHINGTON--Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha returned from Spain on Sunday, a vacation at a lavish hotel on the Mediterranean coast that triggered her first controversy since becoming first lady. I'm told she made the trip because she promised one of her closest friends, a longtime Chicago pal who just lost her father, she would spend time with her.

So why did Mrs. Obama go to Spain at this time? She's not tone-deaf politically. What was behind the "mother-daughter" vacation?
A White House source told me that Blanchard's father passed away and Mrs. Obama was not able to make the funeral at the beginning of July. Blanchard had promised her daughter she would take her to Spain for her birthday. She asked Mrs. Obama and Sasha to come with. (Malia is at overnight camp.)
"She felt it was important as a dear friend to do this," I was told.

This story is just not dying out, is it? It is getting worse and worse for the first couple-—she is up to something over there in Spain, or their marriage is in trouble. It will be interesting to see if she goes back to hoeing her rutabagas, once back at the WH.
Lindy, I’ve never used that word more in my life than in the past two years. Sometimes it’s the only appropriate response to anything that comes out of Obama’s mouth.
However, even if it is true that does not excuse the amount of taxpayer's money spent on this lavish vacation, in fact it makes it worse.
Taking an all expenses paid(by the taxpayers, regardless of what the media says)vacation to Spain simply because one of your buddies had a death in the family is as gross an example of arrogance as I have ever seen, and to try to say it is fine simply because her friend needed consoling is just pure BS.
Michelle Antoinette doesn't begin to describe the extravagance and waste taking a trip like this simply to placate a friend entails.

Axelrod is too clever by half. He thought if he threw in some ‘Oprah’ sob story that we would all shut up. After all, it’s not ‘polite’ to speak ill of the dead and he thought this would show what a ‘wonderful and devoted’ friend Michelle is to have gone on this trip. What a bunch of hogwash....LOL! I wonder how her friend feels about being used for political cover? Who was the third unnamed friend that went on the spanish lobster junket? Why all the secrecy?
I haven’t yet met a grieving person who would be comforted by tooling around Spain in a 13-car motorcade and walking the beaches and streets of a resort in a crowd of dozens of strap hangers shielded from the paparazzi by 60 secret service agents and hundreds of spanish police.
Nor have I met a true friend with access to a staff of 122 servants and a private military jet fleet who couldn’t make it from DC to a Chicago funeral, having taken 8 vacations in 3 months.

The most pertinent thing to this story are the reader comments in the Sun-Times web site. Everyone of them reads of absolute disgust. This guy just may lose 50 states in 2012 if the Republicans can actually find someone with some balls to run.
I found no definitions of that word.. I assume it is a Kenyan local slang. I think it can be broken down in to the two main parts. Slob...as in “They are slobs. and Bovines... as in pigs.. Then I figured out you meant “in English” that they were Pig Slobs.
