Unless there is an absolute and wholesale looting of all retirement accounts, savings accounts, 401Ks, stock accounts, etc. there is simply no way the fiscal surety of this country can be immediately ameliorated, period. Anything else, any proposal, any excuse is just another word for more debt.

Of course Reagn and Obama are similar in the same manner as a person and his reflection in a mirror.
Reagan lowered taxes, Obama's raising them. Reagan loathed big government, Obama loves it. Reagan was a patriot who believed in the unique qualities of the American race, Obama more often sides with our enemies and believes Americans are a deeply flawed people.
Reagan grew in popularity as he earned peoples' respect, Obama started out with all kinds of unearned respect and p*ssed it away in 18 months.

Lichtman is a classic sucky liberal professor. What he avoids facing is that Reagan had put America on the road to recovery, and after 1982 it was progressively better for the next ten years. By contrast Obama has America on the ropes and he is punching like a palooka.
Mirror images? Stupid metaphor. More accurate would be two cars passing on a hill, at the same place momentarily, but going in opposite directions.
