I've had this urge to watch SRV and Rory Gallagher videos all day, which is what I've been doing, and I started thinking, 'seems like it's about the anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughn's death....damn!

In all the years I've heard people talking about SRV, I've never heard anyone call him boring? Wow! All I can say is that to make that statement you must not like:

1. Great Guitar
2. Great Blues
3. Great R&B
4. Great Rock & Roll
5. Great Acoustic Guitar


If you like any of the above and think SRV is boring, you need to seek professional help. You are beyond what anyone can do for you.

As a college student I saw SRV play on the beach in South Padre Island during Spring Break ‘83 while we were in the water surfing fun 3-4’ waves. Talk about cool...

I would put SRV at the top of the Blues pile...Danny Gatton and Lenny Breau would be a toss up for mastering many styles and all around incredible guitarists.

Alpine Valley is a nice venue if I remember correctly. I saw Joni Mitchell there in the late 70's.

I think he died in a plane crash or a helicopter crash as he was leaving a concert at Alpine Valley. The aircraft hit some power lines. I think that’s what happened.

Pat Metheny is great, he’s the same age as SRV would have been - AND ME! - that’s how I remember. We’re under 60. LOL! But Pat Metheny is jazz/fusion. I’m actually more of a jazz fan, but who doesn’t love SRV?
