I searched all over and didn't see a live thread on tonight's speech soooooo here it is! (Be gentle on me, in all my years here this is my FIRST LIVE THREAD!)
I would not listen to most of it. What I noted.
He was very placid .. (I thought it might be induced,
but who knows) and again used a strange phrase ..
“as long as I am president” .. for the 2nd
time today (Ft. Bliss first).
Also noted how much Pres. Bush loves the
country and troops .. but NO direct credit
for the surge, of course.

You got that right! What a weird speech...he could have pulled it off better than that..really. Any other President would have shown some emotion...Bo flatlined throughout this whole speech. Sounded like he was reading a list of ingrediants off a box of cereal. I think he knows he is done...but best is we know he is done.
IMO, after destroying the US as a super power, he aspires to be #4, (playing off his multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-religious, and multi-citizenry backgrounds).
Just keep praying there ARE elections in November.

Narcissists are not capable of showing the emotion you would expect to see in such a speech. Even if he were inclined to do so I doubt he could have.

SHRINK SAYS:
When he invokes that phrase, he is emphasizing that whatever the subject he is talking about he thinks it’s wonderful, so for as long as he is president, this wonderful policy will stay in place.
But,
I’m on maggief’s team. I think it’s code to the Muslim, world. He invokes that “as long as I’m president” whenever he talks about the Middle East.
I think the term is cotton mouth
I think he hates the work of being president, but loved the attention and the perks and everyone believing he was “the one.”
