And you thought that a libtalker declaring a public space too sacred for God would be the dumbest quote from the Left on the Restoring Honor rally hosted by Glenn Beck. Michael Graham from Boston’s WTKK posts a clip of Governor Deval Patrick responding to a question about the rally by noting first that it’s a free country — and then that he’s not terribly happy about that, either:

To be fair, I think he was saying it's a free country and that he wishes Beck's rally were held elsewhere. He's still a jackwagon but I don't for a minute believe he said he wishes America weren't a free country.
That said, if a Republican did this it would be all over the air that he wishes it weren't a free country.

Bill Clinton made an appearance on MTV and said "When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans... And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it."

I agree with you. If you listen to more of the comment, context shows that he was talking about the location, not the freedom. But if a Republican had said this, he’d probably be lynched.
