This is a no win scenario. If the church burns copies of the Kuran it gives excuses for riots in Afghanistan. If the church doesn’t burn them, then factions in Afghanistan can dictate what a church in America can or cannot do.
I don’t think burning the Koran is appropriate. However, even if I disagree with this church’s actions, I don’t think it right for crazies in Afghanistan to make such an issue of it. IF we must constantly worry about what they think about us....then in my opinion our strategy is flawed. They apparently aren’t as afraid of us as they should be.
And what will our response be when Terry Jones is killed?

I don’t know the most effective means, but I do know we need to deliver a very forceful message concerning Islam. The we’ll play nice and eventually they’ll like us approach is a fatal tactic to take with this bunch. Europe has attempted this approach since the 70’s and there are now areas of Europe where non-Muslims simply cannot safely go and individuals are afraid to criticize Mo or Islam for fear of violent retribution. Dearborn it appears may soon be such an area in the US, certainly the evangelists from Acts 17 think so after their recent attempts to do something so simple as pass out gospel tracts.
Islam has to be stopped dead in its tracks in the US or we risk the loss of everything. As we’re seeing in the response to this pastor’s call to burn the Koran, in the final analysis there is no such thing as moderate Islam and all attempts to court this fiction will result in great harm.
I agree. In counterinsurgency you do everything you can to win hearts and minds to choose your side over the insurgents.

In my opinion, it isn’t about Armageddon, it’s about letting the muslims know we don’t give a crap what they think and that islam has no place in America. Funny how the left is always on the muslims’ side but never on the Christians’ side.
