We weren’t even in the Middle East when 9/11 happened, so what was the excuse then?

I wonder if Terry Jones is a veteran?

We weren't all dead. That's all the provocation they need.

While Petraeus acts as Obama's beard, there aren't any media reports about how the troops in the field feel about the administration's transparent attempt to chill the church's exercise of freedom of expression. Or about the crippling rules of engagement imposed on the troops.

Notice that no one is saying that building a monument to the 911 terrorists at ground zero might be dangerous for Muslims, but burning and idiotic Koran will cost lives. That is the difference between modern civilization and Islamic ignorance.

My thoughts go both ways on this. Of one thing I am sure. None of us, Terry Jones, etc. has the beginning of the responsibility or understanding of our war in Afghanistan, that Gen. Petraeus has.

No chance I will ever criticize a soldier in the field on strategic points. I have critiqued tactics and the politics driving our strategic choices.

It's easy to call them from the bench folks, quite another when your command is sending body bags home.

If Gen. Petraeus says "don't", OK, then don't.

I agree with you. Evidently, the pastor is still praying about the situation, although he continues to say he’s going through with it. Such a small group of people he represents, yet he’s causing quite a stir ... maybe he’ll back off ... I understand his message, but not so much the way he’s carrying it out ...

Horse sh** General, our troops are already endangered, especially by the frickin ROE in effect at the moment.

Needs to be repeated and in bold.

This should have spontaneously happened back on 9/11/2001, and every day or every week since.

While Jones’ congregation are burning the only book koranimals ever read this Saturday, I hope they trample a few of the koranimals’ flags as well... Pakistan’s, Saudi Arabia’s, Syria’s, Libya’s, etc.

You can’t kowtow to the Middle East’s insanity. You have to get in its adherents’ faces, threaten them, hurt them badly, very badly, or they’ll never back off in a thousand years and ultimately we’ll lose. Because we don’t have that kind of sticktoitiveness. Only nine years into this war and people are already giving up. Even our generals are tiptoeing daintily around the enemy’s hurt feelings. Disgusting.

If burning the koran really does make things heat up maybe it will force the zer0-In-Chief to allow more sane ROEs.

I will hold Terry Jones personally responsible for the deaths of any troops killed because of this. Publicity seeking jerk off.

Then you agree with Political Correctness? Or do you not understand that Islamic factions use P.C. as a weapon against us? One of the basic doctrines of Islam is to silence anyones dissent against it. In a very real sense The General just gave radical factions more ammunition by his retreat. What retreat you may ask? The retreat of pacifying Islamic factions.

Do you really think Islamo-fascists need a reason to kill Americans? I live in Florida, about two hours south of Gainsville. If the church sticks to its guns, I’m thinking of driving up there and tossing a Quran onto the burn-pile myself.

I DO own a copy, and I HAVE read it. It pays to knows one’s enemy.

I hope the Islamists go nuts. I should say that I hope they go even nuttier than they already are.

Just make sure you beat the traffic heading there for the UF-South Florida game.

Jones can burn as many korans as he wants to. But this isn`t (for him) about burning korans. For him, it`s a huge publicity stunt. Nothing more. And he does`nt care if our troops are killed as a direct result of it. He has a tiny congregation. What better way to garner attention for himself than to do something like this? It`s all about him. He`s learned from the Phelps clan that stupid acts get lots of publicity.

This guy speaking against the Koran as a fraud document does muslims a favor. As for keeping troops from danger, it’s the job of the General to make sure they stay away from the Koran. Enough, said.
