Christine O'Donnell Seeks To Reassure Voters

WILMINGTON, Del. — Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell attempted to assure voters Thursday night that previous views she expressed about people's sexual conduct would not be a focus of her agenda if she makes it to Washington.

Asked about what the proper role of government should be in sexual matters during a two-hour candidate forum sponsored by The Jewish Federation, O'Donnell echoed the sentiment of one audience member, who shouted, "it's personal."

"I agree with you, it's personal. When I go to Washington, D.C. the litmus test by which I cast my vote for every piece of legislation that comes across my desk will be whether or not it is constitutional," she replied.

"It's no secret that there's been a rather unflattering portrait of me painted these days," O'Donnell said. "I am fighting two political parties here in Delaware."

The exchanges between O'Donnell and Coons were courteous and mostly positive, a marked change from the Republican primary fight where the state party took a no-holds-barred approach to lambasting the tea party favorite.

"Let me say, I can't tell you how refreshing it is to have an opponent who wants to talk about the issues, so I thank you for that gentlemanly approach," she said, gesturing to Coons.

Coons said he hoped the debate would be framed on experience and ideas, rather than ideology. But he also pointed out that his view of the role of government is vastly different than O'Donnell's.

That’s what libs and the politically uneducated don’t understand.

When leftists hold ideas about how people should live their lives, people should beware, because the leftists basic philosophy is for government control.

When those on the right have ideas about how people should live their lives, the same danger does not exist, because the fundamental idea of the right is that it is not government’s call to enforce right or wrong.

I’ve been listening to her and I think the lady has got it.

She is well spoken and has learned some political lessons.

She will be fine. Good to get those issues out of the press. She said sex issues are personal which I agree (except gay marriage which should not be allowed). Now she should focus on the economy!!!! She needs to beat up Coon on the economy and how he will help and has helped destroy the economy.

Mr. Coon..What part of the Communist Manifesto do you disagree with?

The reason I wrote you back is because you seem to indicate that I am not understaning of Mr. Coon’s communist manifesto. I very much do when I wrote “She needs to beat up Coon on the economy and how he will help and has helped destoy the economy.” I just think if she completely hits him on the economy day after day that it will assist her in winning.

This is EXACTLY what I try to explain to people when describing the difference between Dems & Rep...well conservatives (at least).

I told one guy, who asked about my opinion of homosexuality, I told him I thought it was a sin. He said, "See there you go, you don't want to let people live their lives." I then very quickly pointed out that I don't care if someone is a homosexual - that is their business, but if they continue to do it, then they will have to answer to God for their lifestyle. You however, want to FORCE me to agree with you and allow them to pervert the rest of society by putting them on some pedestal - so I asked him, "Who really, doesn't want to let whom live their life?"

He just walked away.

Gotcha. I was thinking that in addition she could drive the MSM nuts and draw fire. They are going crazy being attacked on so many fronts. Like the Swamp Fox. They never know where we will strike next. They are completely befuddled. Their structure is based on Collective control from the White House. They get their weekly ‘talking point’ and are unable to adjust to fast moving circumstances. Like Hitler who was fooled on D-Day by Ike.

From the video, it looks to me that O’Donnell hit a home run last night. Coons was sickeningly to the right of what he has actually done and the things he has said in the past. Go Christine!!

I believe that O’Donnell needs to work hard at tying Coons to the current administration and she will win this thing

Oh, but you know the libs will keep bringing up her personal ideas on sexual matters. But she should continue to say that her personal religious views won’t impact her decision making. Of course with homosexual marriage, and abortion, there are reasons other than religious to oppose them, which she can easily argue. ;o)

PRAISE GOD!!! ... this young lady "gets it" in a big way!

Put even a half dozen people like Senator O'Donnell into office and then the REAL fun is going to start! Hoo yeah! And even better if we get 50 or 100 of them! Oh yeah!!

I totally agree 100 percent with you post. She can do this and make “Hitler” go into hiding from her attacks. She can win this and I love that RINOS and MSM don’t think she can....it just makes her winning that much more enticing.
