Beck complains of Goldline inquiry after he hoodwinks investors to buy gold at $800

Posted on 09/21/2010 7:25:10 AM PDT by steve0

I will never support Glenn Beck again!!! On his advice and the advice of people on his show, I bought gold at less than $800.00 an ounce. He began hyping Gold in 11/20/2007 and earlier. Now gold is dropping like a rock and I can only sell my Gold for $1,270.80 a percentage increase of only 48.5%. I have also recently bought silver (SLV) at 17.70 an ETF share.

Here is the proof of him hyping gold around November 20, 2007. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvHhqr8OeFc Here is the proof that gold was about $800.00 an ounce at that time. http://www.kitco.com/scripts/hist_charts/monthly_graphs.plx Even if I had been more reasonable than just to buy when Glenn told me to and dollar cost averaged into Gold I still would have very large increase in the value of the price of gold that I purchased back then compared to now. How dare him!!!

Oh good lord, your fun post is turning into a bizarre trainwreck.

FReepers are coming from far and wide to bang their heads on a wall and denounce you as the enemy of the world because they couldn't be bothered to read to the end of the headline.

You only lose money when you sell.

Because we didn’t read the article - just the headline.

“Who’s Glenn Beck?”

You know, I am sorry to say, that I have not heard or seen Glenn since the 80s, when he had a morning radio spot.
At that time he was OK, but not the same as Rush...The only reason that I had a radio in my office was to get Rush at 11 AM.
I left the USSA for good in Jan. 2005.

Except Goldline doesn't sell its gold coins for the spot price. A recent mintage 1 oz. gold coin sells for $2700 on Goldline, when the spot price is 1200-1300.

What are you looking at?
I went to the site and American Eagles are selling for $1396.

And yes I want a fair tax.

Put on your big girl panties and deal with it or don't invest in anything at all.

Whiny little pantywaste.

Speak for yourself. This is his fourth sentence.

“Now gold is dropping like a rock and I can only sell my Gold for $1,270.80 a percentage increase of only 48.5%.”

Seems pretty clear to me. This is a new one though...insulting someone because you lack reading comprehension. Nice.

steve0 - unfortunately, in the Bizarro World we are living in many folks, including FReepers, have lost their sense of sarcastic wit, therefore, they truly believe you are griping about making only a 48% profit on your gold purchases since heeding Glenn Beck’s advice. I know, it amazes me too that so many folks are so easily fooled, but in today’s upside down, white is black, and wrong is right world we live in, please have a little pity on the poor confused souls trying to make sense of it all. As for me, since I gave up hope, I feel much better.......... ;-)

The problem is, evidently, like many other business, Goldline has commissioned salespeople on the phone, steering people who know very little about precious metals, or coins, into coins that only have collector values. They, and GL, make more money by doing this.

Is this something you find acceptable? Not in the sense of should it be illegal, but if this is true, then is Beck and anyone else who is taking their money to promote them is causing their fans and supporters to get ripped off. IF its true, and it seems very plausibly so.

Selling collector coins to clueless potential investors who are looking to hide away from inflation by buying Gold is just plain wrong, the fact that a few Dem congressmen are trying to make hay over it is a completely different story.

We will never have a perfect world. Ahh come on, don’t give up hope, we have much to be thankful for. In the hereafter we will have a perfect world. The war is won, its not too much to ask that we persevere and fight a few battles.

Nope, I got it as you might see in the first line of my original post.

Most people will not make it past the headline or the first bit of his post.

“I think he was being satirical. But, not a good way to do so for those who might only read the headline and not discover the satire”.

...I think the “$800” portion of the headline explained it as being satire quite well.
