DESPITE its place as the most populous state in the union (by a wide margin), California gets the same number of Senate representatives as the tiniest U.S. state. That means in order for California to have the influence, respect and resources it deserves from Washington, D.C., it needs senators with the ability and presence to fully represent the most dynamic state in the union.
Of the candidates running for one of California's two Senate seats in November, only Carly Fiorina meets that description.
Fiorina, the famous former Hewlett-Packard CEO, is running against incumbent Barbara Boxer, a longtime pol who, in her almost 28 years in the Senate and Congress, has yet to distinguish herself or the state she represents.
It's time for a change. It's time to give the job to someone else - someone who's shown in the past that she has the intelligence and the guts to take on a bloated organization, battle the old boys' club, and make the hard decisions needed to turn the organization around. California and the country absolutely require this kind of change.
While Fiorina may be a novice to elective office, she certainly understands politics. Fiorina rose from receptionist to become one of the most powerful women in corporate America, and a legend in California's high-tech boom.
One of Boxer's main attacks on Fiorina has been that she cut thousands of jobs as CEO at HP, implying Fiorina only knows how to destroy jobs, rather than create them. In the long run, preserving the business preserves jobs. As any business person knows, a bankrupt company doesn't equal any jobs at all.
In many ways, the federal government represents a troubled company teetering on the brink of financial ruin. It has suffered from years of bad decisions based on shortsighted political gains and the infighting of its top managers. It has taken on more debt than it should have and has chosen to ignore the inevitable sinking.
Indeed, we see Fiorina's business experience as exactly the right background for the newest senator from California.
Fiorina also has the right temperament. While Boxer is little more than a political follower in Washington, Fiorina is a leader of the charismatic sort found in many of the country's greatest statesmen and women. When Fiorina met with the Daily News editorial board she impressed us all with her intelligence and understanding of the critical issues facing the country. She listened attentively and responded directly to even the toughest questions. Those may sound like minor things, but they speak deeply of her character and commitment.
We urge voters to support the kind of change that Fiorina represents for California and for the nation - pragmatic, tough and just as inspiring as this state itself.
LOL. Senate representatives? You see, when the nationalists sprung this Constitution on us, they had to give it the appearance of being at least partly-federal. Sure, it was a national system. But they couldn't sell it that way. So they made TWO houses. One, of the people, with proportional representation, the other, with equal representation. Oh nevermind.
Ever since the 17th Amendment Senators have represented political parties and special interests instead of the States.
She’s a damn sight better than the alternative. California and the nation have had enough of Barbara Boxer’s foolishness.

Are they really serious, the most people on welfare maybe, but I would not call it the most dynamic.
As a paper boy in the 1950's, I delivered the (original) Daily News, which was an afternoon paper very heavily leaning to the Dems and unions.
On weekends, I sold the L. A. Times in front of a local church, and it was ultra-conservative, very republican and anti-union. The Hearst paper, the Examiner, was the was a bit of a left leaning rag.
There were five newspapers in LA, along with literally dozens in surrounding towns, Pasadena, Long Beach, Santa Monica, Alhambra, Santa Ana, El Monte, and so on. Great variety, widely different viewpoints.
Its a shame what has happened!

Boxer is a national disgrace! Foolishness doesn’t begin to describe the damage she’s inflicted against California and this nation.
Fiorina - she’ll (try to) do to the nation what she did to HP.
