60 Minutes Shock Report: National Unemployed and Underemployed 17.5%; California 22%

by Larry O'Connor

In a report sure to cause consternation at the White House and in the offices of the Democratic Leadership in Congress, “60 Minutes” provided an in-depth report on the realities of the unemployment situation in America today.

When you take into account the underemployed as well as the unemployed, the national rate hits 17% and California a staggering 22%.

To put a face on the realities of the underemployed in America under Obamanomincs, reporter Scott Pelley spoke with a fiber-optics engineering manager who has been looking for work for over a year. He just took a job working at a Target. 20% of the unemployed in America have college degrees.

According to the report, 1/3 of the unemployed have been out of work for over a year. This hasn’t happenned since the Great Depression.

I am not surprised. The actual unemployment rate is about twice what the government reports.

60 Minutes Shock Report: National Unemployed and Underemployed 17.5%; California 22 %

And next Sunday, two days before the election, 60 minutes will tell everyone how important it is to elect Democrats to fix unemployment instead of voting for the evil Republicans.

we knew that before 60 minutes reported on it. During the Clinton years the metric to measure unemployment was changed. If we used the old measurement, its more like 17-22%

I can believe this report with no problem - seems everyone has been touched by the idiocy of the marxist and his pathetic work crew.

Yes, things are very bad in Silicon Valley as I can attest. I’ve lived here over 25 years and I’ve never seen it worse.

However knowing hundreds of silicon valley types, I can assure you people here are anything but logical and rational. And I can assure you that these same people who are suffering will go to the polls and vote for Brown and Boxer by better than 2 to 1. Trust me on this one. And most of these people were foolish enough to vote for Obama.

Silicon Valley has a very thin veneer of super bright people who work in the technology area. Once you get past that 3-4% of people, the residents here are a dumb as a box of rocks. And those 3-4% of people seem to be only bright in a very limited area. California and Silicon Valley in particular seem to believe that you can put every handicap possible in front of business and still have a healthy economy. They don’t seem to believe that God doesn’t love more than others. And they believe prosperity is their birthright no matter how terrible they act. They believe the tech companies won’t pack up and leave even as many have done. And most people here don’t believe you need to have some degree of base manufacturing to support your high tech and services. They believe in the idiocy of anthropogenic global warming and they will vote against Prop 23 which is the one thing that just might save them. They believe in the illusion of green jobs but few of these people even know what a green job is.

In short this area is filled to the brim with idiots. They vote like idiots and they act like idiots. And despite the high unemployment, the companies are still saying we need to increase H1B visa and they can’t find qualified people. Unbelievable! Yes as I stated there is a small veneer of bright people but that small percentage is simply not enough. God help us.

Well, it may have been a shock to 60 Minutes, but the rest of us have known this for months.

It's easy, they are Californians. Trust me on this one. After the thin veneer of smart people in silicon valley and just a few other areas, the great masses of people here are as dumb as a box of rocks.

Soooo... I guess Republicans blocking unemployment benefits and giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas is going to really help their cause....

How is it that Republicans are going to fix unemployment? By increasing the amount of H1-B visas allowed every year?

What really bothers me most is the percentage of people nationwide who voted for Obama in ‘08. I can't help but think the dumbing down of a majority of voters is at hand. Is that going to change November 2?

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” — Author Unknown
