Tonight's candid "60 Minutes" report on the country's disastrous economy, focusing on Newton, Iowa. Must see!!
Somebody must have been holding the President of CBS News hostage the last 2 weeks.
They did their best to paint a bleak picture, and to be sure it is bleak; however, they also did their best to spread the blame evenly among dems and republicans. They also did not even begin to address the question of what to do about the situation. These people claim to hate typical politicians because “nothing ever gets done”. Let’s see if they are intelligent enough to throw off the garbage they’ve been fed by the lamestream media and pull the lever for a real American who understands them because she IS them - Sarah Palin. I can’t stand it when someone moans and groans about “politics as usual” then refuses to vote for a fresh face because they want “someone with experience”.
>I believe the left/media complex is attempting to build their case that the only solution for the descending curtain of economic doom is a complete Government takeover of economic activities.
Fortunately for us Government will define propelling a metallic or metal-containing projectile as an “economic activity” thereby allowing them to regulate firearms and cars!!

They’ve lost their credibility, and along with it their viewership—and dollars from advertisers.
Wind turbines are a joke. The only way to create enough energy for economic growth in this country is with a commitment to build lots of nuclear plants. We sneer at the Euros, but they are sensible about some things. France built lots of nukes, and the Euros drive lots of economical diesel cars, which are prevented from adoption here by extremist California emission standards.
“another salvo at defenseless Dems...”
Not so much, imho.
The story that followed was a Reagan economic advisor that stated that none of the tax cuts should be extended. None. It would be economic suicide (his words, not mine).
AND THEN..they did a story on one of my favorite horses currently still running. I knew she would be a fav...but this could put her odds under even in the Breeders Cup. j/k
Not to mention that the more powerful the unions in the state the more troubled the state.
Its not just the labor costs. Regulation accounts for more than the labor costs.
The Chinese standard of living is growing and manufacturing is starting to move elsewhere. All except for the slave labor camps.
I think people predicted NAFTA would result in a lot of jobs going to Mexico and some certainly did but why did so many go to China?
Last week piqued my curiosity, this week really ramps it up...
I agree they more or less “spread the blame”...but the timing of this piece, and the dates and data used seems designed to tilt thinking towards some new hopey changey moves this week.
At this point who cares who’s to blame. The house is on fire, either we work together or we burn.
There is a lot of areas where being Democrat is a family tradition. I had idea how deep this ran until the last election when I followed the Hillary voters on their websites and saw what some went through saying they were voting McCain/Palin. What “we” need to do is find a way to educate these people on the Democratic party and what it really stands for and how Progressive policies harm us all.. this is one area I think Glenn Beck shines and thank God for Fox News standing behind him as he strives to educate.
There’s also the story of treadle sewing machines. I have heard (can’t find evidence) that after WWII we GAVE the Japenese the patents for treadle sewing machines. They are currently produced in China. They are junk (several reports; often purchased by Amish) meanwhile the Singer treadle sewing machines made in early 40’s are what anthropologists might call a “climax design.” Efficient manufacturing, easily repaired, durable.
One would think that with fears about energy one would hear more of the treadle sewing machine.
I figured the same.....the verdict is not in yet. Seems to me the youth and immigrants are more bendable toward socialism and their numbers are increasing. The older generation remembers a freer and better America with smaller government where Gov't workers could not go on strike and actually made less than in the private sector. Where the private sector was much freer to do as it pleased without a thousand gov't regulators hassling them
Good question. I don't know.
Labor so cheap that even with tariffs companies still profit perhaps? I'm assuming there are tariffs on goods imported from there.
The corporate bean counters at CBS finally figured out their own jobs are dust unless some REAL CHANGE occurs ASAP...
“Lawyers, psychologists, surplus academics who teach “social science” and “political science,” and Wall St. speculators do not create wealth....”
The Parasitic Class..
I see no sense in saving the house if the same incendiary SOBs are allowed to light it up endlessly.
Dittos!
Glenn Beck is a god send in that regard. My family has always been republican..even when republicans didn’t exist in the south..my mom blazed a trail. I really admire her. She actually marched for civil rights in the 60’s as a republican. It was a sad ending though, as she had to leave when the commies came in to manipulate the blacks in the south. My mom and dad were unsung heros back in the day.
