NONSENSE! She’s much loved, she got 75% of the votes in her district!
She won’t be coronated Minority Leader and she’ll leave Congress.
And then the leaks will start.
There is not enough popcorn in the world.
yes, let them remain the ‘face’ of the liberal democrats for the next two years to continue to inflame people and remind them to finish the job in 2012!
Oh no, PLEASE let her stay! She will be a fantastic target of obstructionism and anti-Americanism for the next two years! Personally, I rub my hands in glee at the thought... LOL
Dear Nancy: Fight for your job. We’re counting on you. Good Luck.
I continue to say that the Dems MUST elect Pelosi as their leader. After all, we need a record of which Congressman supports her so we can finish the mop up operation in 2012
Frank, Dingell, Waxman, Rangel, Conyers, etc.....
But they are the king and queens of nothing...
1.) They have lost their Chairmanships ( In the House ).
2.) They are the minority party.
3.) They will go further left and come unhinged do to loss of power.
4.) They will embarrass themselves and give more political will to average Americans to throw them out the next time around...
5.) Investigations... How many will be called up, and I still say after January, what happens to Conyers with all the Detroit Corruption and everyone going to jail, what is his fate?
But the best thing?
Many will be redistricted out of existence...
Schadenfreude alert, it will be fun to watch them all melt like the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz....
In 1994, the GOP won control of Congress by effectively nationalizing the election around the Contract With America. But almost immediately, the Democrats circled the wagons with their news media auxiliary and began the process of demonizing the Republican victors (does anyone recall Time magazine's cover in December of that year: "The Gingrinch Who Stole Christmas"?). As propaganda goes, it was unusually crude, but even crude propaganda can be effective.
And it worked for several reasons. The first of these is because the GOP now had a "face" (Newt's) to counter the Democrats' (Clinton's), but the Republicans had run against Congress more than Clinton, who was still personally popular and appeared willing to work with them (as he in fact did, if only for a while).
The media could also be counted on back in those pre-FOX News, pre-Internet blog days to get in line and parrot the Democrat narrative and promote their agenda unquestioningly. And, beginning with the Time hit piece they did just that; so that even before the Contract With America was largely implemented, Newt Gingrich became the frequent target of Nastygrams from the media machine.
Finally, the GOP failed to successfully build on the Contract in '96 because they reverted to Bush 41-era form, allowing the squishy, "moderate", pre-Reagan party wing to dominate. This resulted in the disastrous nomination of Bob Dole as the next-guy-in-line candidate in '96, and an effective neutering of the gains made in 1994.
Skip ahead 15 years now, and following the disaster of 2008, the GOP finds itself in much better shape. They've won control of the House, and without a single nationally-known face for the Left to isolate, polarize and personalize. We've got an alternative media that prevents the Democrats from promoting a uniform political narrative in opposition. For their part, the Democrats have the liability of three identifiable and unpopular faces that the Republicans can focus on in the drive to 2012: Reid, Pelosi and President Obama, who is no Bill Clinton - what he lacks in the latter's political triangulation skills he more than compensates for with ideological rigidity and a brittle personality.
In sum, even though Republicans didn't win the Senate this past week, I think they've got a lot to be happy about; assuming they play the right cards, which is to say: from the Tea Party deck and face up.
Barry, Harry and Scary should be kept front and center until they all are a distant memory.
Let them stay so they can make fool out of themselves. :)
