White House, GOP look for middle ground on taxes (McCain says yes to tax hikes) (BARF ALERT)

(snip)

...Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the Republican presidential contender in 2008, said he could fathom a short-term extension of all the tax cuts. McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts, saying they disproportionately benefited wealthy Americans and did not rein spending.

"They should be extended until we are out of this recession," McCain said. "At such time we can look at other tax hikes. But when we're in a serious recession I cannot believe that raising taxes is a good thing on anybody."

In fact, the recession officially ended in June 2009, but the recovery has been markedly slow, with unemployment stuck at 9.6 percent, and in danger of sputtering.

Hey, calcowgirl, sorry to bug you, but I just went back and reread every post I wrote to you, and I never called you any name at any time, nor was there anything that could be construed as calling you a 'name' in any of my posts.

Again.......if you could be so kind as to point out what you thought was a 'name' please let me know. I didn't do it, and would like to have the opportunity to clarify it for you.

Check out this gem:

SOL, you will never be a member of my “ Love George W.Bush and My World Class Son Club For War Heroes Who Were Straight A Students Before They Became A War Hero Club “ I just pinged you to let you know I will never ping you again. I pinged JR, and now he knows. Others know the truth about you as well. In time the others will tell even more, and so on.

No I did not write this. Someone sent it to me. But it looks very similar to another comment on this thread. Let's see if anyone is dumb enough to claim that this is about them. Yes, there is someone that dumb here but I wont say who she is because I am a ‘Man of Honor”.

So I think, that while I certainly disagree with some of what he did, calling him a RINO is foolish. He is a center-right Republican, and not at all "in name only." That's a misnomer.

Really? Why don't you tell that to Jim Robinson?

To: NoLibZone

A RINO is a Republican who either does not abide by the constitution or at a minimum is off the official Republican party platform more than he’s on it.

And, yes, Bush was a RINO. As is Romney, Rudy, McCain, Huckabee, Graham, Snowe, Collins, Arnold and many others.

I supported Bush even though he was a RINO and gave in to Arnold at the last minute, even went with McCain after he gave us Sarah (and ONLY because of Sarah). Never again!

It’s been proven over and over again that the two-faced lying liberal reach around RINO will screw you in the end every time!

That’s what the Tea Party rebellion is all about!

NO MORE BIG GOVERNMENT!! NO MORE SOCIALISTS!! And NO MORE RINOS!!

RE :”And while your at it, take a look at sickoflibs incessant bizarro name-calling of me going on (see post #141 ). I wonder if you approve of his incessant made-up, nasty, degrading ad hominems of me on this thread, or the fact that he continues them without ever pinging me.

Actually comment #141 does not identify anyone. There are NO 'names' at all in it. Nor does it talk about anyone specific. It is just some crazy ramblings. It is stand alone text. Why anyone would claim that this is about them is beyond me. Check it out yourself.

BTW : calcowgirl is cool user name. It's not like you had a dumb name like cal_cow_fan. that would be idiotic.

I absolutely disagree with JimRob on this, rabs. (He won't be surprised that we don't agree on everything. :)

Republicans come in various degrees of conservatism....always have, probably always will. There have always been Republicans who were far, far, far to the left of President Bush.

A RINO is one who doesn't act like a Republican of any stripe (people like John McCain and Lindsay Graham).

President Bush did many conservative things and held the line in many ways - our national defense, the defense of the sanctity of life, refusing to raise taxes.

He was not, therefore a RINO.

And as I've told you before, if you use that term as a pejorative against everyone, it becomes meaningless, and can't be used against anyone.

You, in your overuse and abuse of the term have rendered it meaningless. Words mean things......or at least they're supposed to.

Besides which, your hero Ron Paul is far more of a RINO than George Bush is. In fact, he's not really a Republican at all, is he? And he certainly has some liberal views that most conservatives find disturbing.

George W. Bush, is, in fact, at the very least, the second most conservative President in American history.....and he is most certainly a Republican.

I thought Bush was a liberal. Didnt he bailout GM with taxpayer money?

In American history? Looks like someone is reading Readers Digest short history book.

btw, a RINO wouldn't have selected entirely conservative federal judges and two stellar SC Justices.

(Don't bother with the hackneyed Meirs line, Alito's on the bench, nominated by Bush).

I repeat.......RINO's don't get awarded by conservative organizations for their stellar conservative judges. Bush has been.

Republicans come in various degrees of conservatism...

By your logic, it's possible to be liberal and conservative at the same time!

President Bush did many conservative things and held the line in many ways - our national defense

Bush's "open borders" and pro-amnesty positions are not conservative at all, and yes, that is actual national defense.

refusing to raise taxes.

He preferred to leave the dirty work of paying for his fascist bailouts to a future generation.

George W. Bush, is, in fact, at the very least, the second most conservative President in American history.....and he is most certainly a Republican.

What a joke. Bush is the second most liberal President, eclipsed only by Obama.

RE :”What a joke. Bush is the second most liberal President, eclipsed only by Obama

That's my line.

GM bailout, TARP, Bush/Pelosi Stimulus, No Child,.., Medicare Drugs, Ethanol, minimum wage increase (OK that one backfired on democrats), Amnesty. Liberal ??? Heck, he's a Socialist.

Why does she love McCain all of sudden? He must of said something nice about Bush. In fact he did on Sunday. McCain explained why he was sorry that couldn't let Bush campaign for him 2008 and said he really liked and respected him. I bet ....

Just tell her that you like and respect Bush as a 'Man of Honor' and she will offer to have your Babies. OK, someone threw that line at me a while back, I didnt think it up myself. Realistically, you have to put on a Bush mask to get her going.

rabs, have you ever heard of Nelson Rockefeller? Was he a Republican? Was he a conservative?

And about that 'open borders stuff.' If that makes Bush a liberal, it also makes Reagan a liberal.

Bush is the second most conservative President we've had. His judges, his pro-life stance, his national defense and his support of the military are just a few examples to prove it.

Look, rabs. I know you hate him, and you know I don't, so this is going nowhere.

Thanks again for attempting to be civil. It's progress, and I appreciate it.

Enjoy the rest of the evening.

I just thought of something really neat for you sickoflibs.

Because you're a troll, we all know that you're not on Obama's enemies list like all the rest of us on FR are. Obama has nothing to fear with you. You deride conservatives just like he does. You're pals.

That's cool for you..............or not.
