Thune just lost any support for 2012 from me (VANITY)

Posted on 11/19/2010 2:14:35 PM PST by jakerobins

John Thune voted for S510...the Senate bill enabling the FDA to have wide Regulation Authority over the food supply. Sorry folks but I still say DeMint is the man to watch...and of Course Sarah Palin despite her support for RINO McCain..

I’m neither for nor against Thune.
I just want the accurate record.

America will be looking for an experienced centrist in 2012, and Republicans allow too much open voting in primaries for a conservative to be easily noiminated. Which means most of us won’t care for the eventual nominee. Broken glass time again.

I fear the same thing will happen nationally in 2012 as typically happens here in the People's Republic of Illinois. Conservatives split their votes in the primary, which enables a Rino POS to get the nomination. I fear a split of votes among Palin/DeMint/Pence/Ryan/whoever will enable Slick Willard to be the nominee.

People are out there spreading lies. Heck, even Lugar who is up for reelection voted Nay.

I knew Bayh would vote present. You know why? He will be Hillary’s VP candidate.

Makes me laugh.

S.510 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act
On the Cloture Motion (Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to S. 510)
Aye (against party) November 17, 2010

THEN TODAY HE VOTED AGAINST IT.

(Too cute by half)

I saw the post below last night and was concerned because it showed Thune as voting for the bill.

Freep post:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2628696/posts

But I just went back and looked at the source of the original post and found that the information was actually from the cloture vote here:

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote=00250

Thank you, onyx, for finding the actual vote.

Looks like you premise was wrong. Thune voted against the bill per the US Senate website.

Thanks guys for digging into this.

This is a huge power grab, as big in my mind as the health care debacle and just as unconstitutional. Anyone voting for it needs to be retired.

And job one when the new congress comes in has to be de-funding this thing.

You’re welcome, but I’m still confused as to why he voted for cloture (which allows the bill to advance to a vote).

Interesting that he was one of the senators recommended by the previous press guy as a good candidate. I forget his name - the first GW WH press guy. We have enemies within and without...Great pickup!
