Liberals resort to conspiracy theories to explain Obama's problems

Following two years of poor economic performance and electoral repudiation, liberalism is casting around for narratives to explain its failure - narratives that don't involve the admission of inadequacies in liberalism itself.

For some, the solution is to lay the blame on President Obama. He hasn't been liberal enough. He can't communicate. "I cannot recall a president," Robert Kuttner says in the Huffington Post, "who generated so much excitement as a candidate but who turned out to be such a political dud as a chief executive." Obama is "fast becoming more albatross than ally."

This is an ideological movement at its most cynical, attempting to throw overboard its once-revered leader to avoid the taint of his problems.

But there is an alternative narrative, developed by those who can't shake their reverence for Obama. If a president of this quality and insight has failed, it must be because his opponents are uniquely evil, coordinated and effective. The problem is not Obama but the ruthless conspiracy against him.

So Matt Yglesias warns the White House to be prepared for "deliberate economic sabotage" from the GOP - as though Chamber of Commerce SWAT teams, no doubt funded by foreigners, are preparing attacks on the electrical grid. Paul Krugman contends that "Republicans want the economy to stay weak as long as there's a Democrat in the White House." Steve Benen explains, "We're talking about a major political party . . . possibly undermining the strength of the country - on purpose, in public, without apology or shame - for no other reason than to give themselves a campaign advantage in 2012." Benen's posting was titled "None Dare Call it Sabotage."

Oathkeepers....just sayin’
All of this is nothing new. Just the same old promises made by a group of people that think they know better what is good for us. It’s about POWER.
I’ve never met a liberal/’Progressive’ that didn’t think they wouldn’t be in the nomklaturia, the actual group that benefits from communitarianism. Just how desparate they become to achieve that power is the unknown.

I absolutely agree with you. They take themselves incredibly seriously and truly believe they are exceptionally smart. The way to fight liberals is to hit them with facts and showcase them as lacking knowledge. They hate that.

Liberals are a perfect example of a famous quote of Einstein.

Since Karl Marx, all forms of leftwing socialm has always failed. Yet, liberals stupidly continue to pursue their socialist utopia of unicorns and rainbows despite history proving it always fails.

Einstein: Insanity (stupidity) is doing the same thing over & over but expecting different results.

IOW, they are easy pickings for conversion to Islam. Come to think of it, didn't this "just didn't express it clearly enough" talking point *originate* with Zero, who is himself a closet Muzzie? Thanks Sub-Driver.

He is beneath contempt and forfeits any decorum from posters like me.

I can't speak for Cobra, but for me it isn't about contempt or decorum. As you said, he deserves neither.

The reason I don't like most of the name calling is because it makes the poster look juvenile, and distracts from the rest of the post. It doesn't matter if the subject is Obama or anyone else, the effect is the same.

LOL. And here I thought that liberalism was the home of creativity, artistry, and the clever turn of phrase. Guess not, huh?

There are a lot of highly creative types among ordinary center-left liberals, and even among those who buy into more extreme leftism in dupeish fashion.

But the true hard leftists are soul-sucking demons who wring the richness out any art form they adopt, leaving it a dry, lifeless husk. Witness what they did to folk music in the 60's.

Too true. Look at what's become of television, sculpture, dance, popular music, auto design, and many other art forms. In my over-half-century of watching the evolution of these art forms, they've undergone marked and noticeable decline and degradation.

Even creative areas such as advertising, clothing design, broadcasting, appliance design, and the design of public buildings and spaces have seen departures from traditional axioms of artistic composition, which has resulted in a pervasive weirdness factor that's hard to describe.

That's not to say that some excellent art doesn't still manage to bloom here and there, but per my observations, there's an overall downward creep to most of it, which I feel is the direct result of the corrosive influence of hard core leftism.

For instance -- although I've had an intense love of music my whole life, it's gotten to the point where there's little new music that appeals to me. I realize that some of that is due to my age and tastes, but a lot of it is due to the fact that real artistry has been, for the most part, banished from the popular music industry. One exception is Country music, which is still resistant to influence from the left. Consequently, I now prefer that genre over any other.

Just incidentally, recent discovery on my part, here's a fine group that's doing something new and amazing in the jazz genre:

Although I also have listened to a lot more country in my adult years. (And bluegrass and other folks musics to the extent non-communist contaminated.) In part because, although I don't get out so much anymore, my favorite adult beverage serving establishment of many years is a roots music venue:

Ever been there? Here's some country from Dan's:

And some rock and roll:
