Some travelers pushing for child-free flights

A growing movement is pushing for flights with no children on board.

A recent survey by a travel fare-comparison site showed that 59 percent of passengers support creating special sections on flights for families.

The idea even has its own Facebook page, with 670 members and counting on the "Airlines should have kid-free flights" page.

Kristen Wince said she might have been one of those members - before her son was born.

"Yes, having been flying with no children, it seems like a good idea," she said. "Flying with children, it seems like a really bad idea."

Define child.

if they mean under 8, then I understand. too many people don’t discipline their kids these days. I don’t want to be near them.

Kids aren’t the problem,it’s their parents.Frankly speaking,I’m waiting for the airlines that lets my dog sit next to me ,in a paid seat. That will eliminate a certain group from flying on that airlines.Snarl.

Screaming children don't bother me so much. The children who kick the seats bother me.

The worst flight I remember was a red eye from Salt Lake to Atlanta. This was right after they put those game consoles in the back of the head rests. The woman behind me kept punching my headrest with her stylus or pen or something. Bang bang bang, tap tap tap - finally I turned around and said PLEASE STOP!

Isn’t there some kind of mild sedative safe for children that they can take before flights?
Both Young Living's Peace and Calming and Lavender essential oils are considered safe for young children. In fact, we currently have Peace and Calming on our dogs' paws, because they get very riled up when "grandpa" comes over to watch the ND game on TV. Works splendidly. The oil, however, should not be used for cat.

And if you have older kids, yes, even adults! that act up, Frankincense is awesome ...

“There is something wrong with a society that does not like to be around kids.”

They keep you young and aware of what life is all about. Not self, self and self. Young parents need an older person to ask is this normal when a child melts down over something. Some people forget it happens in the best of families. Visit one of the adult only retirement developments they are a breeding ground for stupid liberal ideas. More chad problems per square block than in the real world.

I want laptop free flights where the person next to me keeps using me for a desk.
No reclining seats. Why should I have someone’s head in my lap so he can read his screen without glasses.

I can understand this even so I have a toddler. His first flight was last month and he screamed the entire time. I felt awful for the other passengers.

Did you at least fly coach??

;)

Because you’re a gentleman. You take under consideration the effects your actions have on the comfort of others in an airplane and behave accordingly, while others think only of themselves.

To my mind, there are far too many self-centered jerks flying today.

I’d also flip that around and say that ‘there is something wrong with a society that produces children no one wants to be around’.

Was he teething?

Took my little 1+ year old guy back and forth from Hawaii in his jammies and he was good and slept half the way.
I had toys, treats and took him on a walk through the plane a couple of times.

I want terrorist free flights. And the toddlers they are giving “random inspections” to don’t appear to me to be life threatening passengers.
