President Obama's spokesman is labeling as "ridiculous" an assertion by the founder of WikiLeaks that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton should resign if she was involved in asking U.S. diplomats to gather intelligence at the United Nations.
In an online interview with Time magazine from an undisclosed location, founder Julian Assange on Tuesday called on Mrs. Clinton to resign "if it can be shown that she was responsible for ordering U.S. diplomatic figures to engage in espionage in the United Nations" in violation of international agreements.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that Mr. Assange's statements "are both ridiculous and absurd." Mrs. Clinton, he said, has done nothing wrong, and U.S. diplomats do not engage in spying.
He spoke during an interview on NBC's "Today" show.
State Department officials said Tuesday that secret instructions to American diplomats to gather sensitive personal information about foreign leaders originated from the U.S. intelligence community but did not require diplomats to spy. Requests for DNA and biometric data on foreign officials were contained in leaked classified cables published by WikiLeaks.
"Secretary Clinton is doing a great job," Mr. Gibbs said. "The president has great confidence in and admires the work that Secretary Clinton has done."

Diplomats don’t spy . . . they gather intelligence.
A while ago, I read an article that detailed the correlation between the time when presidents (or the spokespeople) describe their "great confidence" in someone to the time that it takes them to be fired. As you might guess, it's quick.
I wish I could find that piece, it's funny. But I can't for the life of me remember where I read it.
Well, if she didn’t order diplomats to spy for American, then she isn’t doing her job. Whatever intelligence we can gather to protect America, by whatever means, is OK with me.

Looks like BO ordered Gibbs to try and make HC the fall gal for BO’s WikiLeaks.

And this woman who’s involved in theft of almost 1000 FBI files, a murder/suicide cover-up, perjury, suborning perjury, obstruction of justice, and grand theft of over $100,000 of publicly owned property out of our White House continues to embarrass anybody with any God-given common sense and decency.
What a disgusting person. She should have been put in prison years ago.
Lord knows I dislike HRC as much as any of you but let’s consider this in context. She is reported to have been doing the same as Condi Rice and, if this is so, then I suggest that this was an anti-terrorist policy since it’s a time honored tradition to hide your intelligence officers under the guise of diplomatic immunity as members of a nation’s diplomatic corps. Learning about one’s opponents and their operatives at the local diplomatic mission is useful, especially if you can do it in their country before they send them to ours with the inherent danger of domestic violence being perpetrated against us by, or at the direction of, some of these “diplomats”.
I figure that she just signed a bunch of papers confirming the policy decisions of her predecessors, and this was one of them.
Probably didn’t even bother to read them.
Nevertheless, there’s no “IF” about he. She did sign that order, I’m sure. And she deserves to pay the penalty among her crazed leftist supporters who disapprove of such a sensible order.
Jullian Assange is a tool of George Soro’s. Soro’s is the puppet master of Obummer and is pulling the strings to destroy Hillary politically.
I haven't seen where Condi ordered Diplomats to spy on the UN, I did see where she requested intelligence, which is SOP. Condi did it too seems to be the meme.
So if this didn’t happen why did Hillary give a speech on it?
Why did Hillary not even mention this in her news conference the other day.
So now the liars are covering for the liars.
What the hell has Clinton done so far except jet around the world on the taxpayers dime and stuff her pie hole?
