Looks like Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Defense Meritorious Service Medal, certainly her top three. Would the citations be online?

Prior to having charges filed against her, I would assume she would have had a good conduct ribbon with a few stars.

She will get a retirement. Had she been dishonorably discharged she might have been denied a pension.

You are correct about her ribbons. I don't think her citations would be on line, accessible to the public.

Her family is Navy. That is why she got where she was, and why it took so long to get rid of her.

Nevermind the blue blood “legacy” admissions, the affirmative action President, the family connections that are key to optimal promotion through the ranks, etc, etc, etc.

During the Iraq war, the services were keeping a lot of personnel who had some black marks against them. Once the war ended, and personnel needs weren't so intense, some purges began, and people deemed as operating below standards were weeded out and not allowed to re-enlist. If they were short of their twenty years, I suppose it would be possible for some of them to join the reserves and complete their 20 years, although they would have to wait until age 60 to draw a pension.

Someone getting a dishonorable discharge has done something to REALLY tick off the military, and would most likely not get any benefits. If the person had a general discharge, but had 20 years in, it wouldn't necessarily mean that they would be denied a pension. If they get a general discharge, and don't have 20 years in, and are NOT recommended for re-enlistment, they are screwed, unless a reserve unit is willing to take them in. These days though, that is unlikely.

There are other reasons the military can discharge someone prior to end of enlistment. Medical reasons can be one. "Convenience of the Service" might be another, and it could mean that they no longer need the skills that person has.

It’s odd to see a Navy uniform with that many strips on the sleeves but so few medals on the chest.

I noticed she isn’t wearing the National Defense Ribbon.

i don't know Navy Uniform regulations, i was Army. i have seen file photos of Navy Flag officers wearing the same kind of arrangement though. i don't think it's a complete accounting of awards.

You'd have to check with someone with Navy experience to find out what that is all about.

i do know that by the time somebody makes O-6 in any service (Navy Captain, Army Colonel) they at least have a lot of "been there, done that" ribbons.

Remember, Admiral Jeremy Boorda, Clinton's CNA got into a lot of trouble for wearing combat 'V' devices that he didn't earn. He ended up killing himself over the incident.
