Joe Manchin, the newly elected Democratic senator from West Virginia, is taking heat from Republicans for skipping several crucial votes on Saturday to spend time with his family.

Manchin missed votes to advance the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants under a certain age who meet certain requirements, and repeal the military’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

WV people won’t mind. They have not given Manchin a two-year lease but a lifetime contract, and he knows it. People there almost never turn out senators so long as they bring the “goodies.”

Which is why we need to repeal the 17th Amendment.

Republicans ran a well meaning but terrible canidate against him in November (Raese basically admitted he didn’t even live in WV). Run a good canidate against him in 2012 and things may be different...

Responsibility is for conservatives. Democrat Master Animals are free to vacation, eat ice cream, and jerk America into an early grave as they desire.

"Joe Manchin, the newly elected Democratic senator from West Virginia, is taking heat from Republicans for skipping several crucial votes on Saturday to spend time with his family."

What a F***** COWARD!!
Typical cowardly ploy to avoid being seen taking a stand against the reckless legislation being forced on America by the lawless Congress Manchin is part of.

This COWARD Manchin has already betrayed the state of West Virginia and the nation. He's a typical lying DemonRAT. How can the people of West Virginia so stupid and willfully blind to give the COWARD Manchin their votes? Are people in West Virgina really that stupid?

Hey Manchin: If you can't handle the peer pressure in the Senate why did you run in the first place?

And if the senate job is "taking you away from your family":
QUIT THE SENATE NOW!

My apology more the expletive.

Sounds like he drank the same water that Obama drank the day of the Clinton Press Conference.

In his defense:
Not showing up has the same effect as voting NO, which was his intention anyway.

Uh, yeah, because repeal in WV means Manchin would NEVER be defeated for the forseeable future. The GOP hasn’t won a majority in the legislature since about 1928.

This guy is pinned down. For two years he can’t really ever vote with the Dems on any of their red flag bills. And, of course, he can’t vote Repuke. He actually ENTERED the Senate completely neutered. If only the voters of West Virginia would see how this works and realize...

Never mind.

He should have gotten his arse to work today or he should quit the Senate. His “intentions” are irrelevant. He even lives reasonably close to DC.

Then you’ll have to say the same about these 3 who also didn’t show up:

Not voting were Republicans Jim Bunning of Kentucky, Orrin Hatch of Utah and Judd Gregg of New Hampshire

“Manchin is a coward.”

My thoughts exactly. He simply didn’t want to take a stand.
