Under the new system, each personal car receives 60 liters (16 gallons) of subsidized fuel a month costing 40 cents a liter ($1.50 a gallon) — up from the just 10 cents a liter.

OK....I am a little confused. Obviously, 40 cents is 4 times greater than 10 cents. However, going from 10 to 20 cents is a 100% markup. Isn't it really "only" a 300% increase...? You would still have to account for the original price, if I am not mistaken.

We should help Iran out with a few dozen well placed blockbusters on their refinery.

Would have been correct if they said fuel prices surged to 400% of their previous value.

If they’d put all their time and money into building refineries instead of nukes, they wouldn’t be in this mess. The few Iranian citizens that actually understand what happened have got to be furious.

Security forces flooded Iran's capital in a warning against possible unrest as fuel prices surged 400 percent Sunday under plans to sharply cut government subsides and ease pressure on an economy struggling with international sanctions.

Yeah, those HORRIBLE sanction that destroy nations who don't comply is what did it! /s

Hopefully the people of Iran will find the wherewithall to do some surgery on their government. I’m afraid they will have to do it without much outside help though.

I think there are a lot of choke points in the Iranian economy other than gasoline. The country is very susceptible to a blockade. Stopping ALL imports and exports would bring the regime to its knees in short order.

You know your system doesn’t work if you’ve got to enforce it with the military.

Of course Obama’s name is kept out of it...some wouldn’t like that he’s cutting off gas to the people of Iran...
