Outgoing GOP congressman: 'Credible conservatives' not about Obama 'hatred'

Outgoing Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) said Thursday that a "credible conservative" movement that doesn't focus on "hatred" of President Obama is needed.

Inglis was defeated in a landslide by Trey Gowdy in the June primary runoff. Gowdy, a staunch conservative and Tea Party favorite, went on to win the 4th District seat in November.

Inglis lamented on CNN that the current wave of populist conservatism is unlike that of Ronald Reagan.

"We'll get through and we'll get back to optimistic conservatism," he said. "We just got to get through this unfortunate period."

The congressman said he was wounded in his campaign by not joining "in the real bitterness toward the president."

"I don't call him a socialist because he's not," he said. "I don't doubt that he was born in Hawaii because he was. I don't call him a Muslim because he says he's a Christian. And I didn't say anything about death panels because there weren't any in that health care bill."

Oh no, it's just so wrong to hate a truly evil man. After all he seems so likable and has such a flashy smile. And, also, he's a family man. We all know that family men simply cannot be so bad. Never mind that the most evil people in all of history had families. And, oh yeah, he's in the USA and no politician can be evil in the USA. We might not agree with him/her but it's simply impossible for an evil politician to succeed in this candy coated, magical land of the good old USA.

I like watching liberals go into a tizzy when Obama ends up (for whatever reason) keeping Bush policies that he promised them he would stop on day one. After he came out for the tax compromise I gave a couple of black Obama Koo-laid drinkers (here) a bunch of grief about Obama ‘ giving tax breaks to the wealthy ’ and ‘ fighting expensive endless wars ’. I got them to defend those actions that they had been critical for years on, and it was fun playing Ed Schultz (good thing I watch him. Know your enemy!) ..

Democrats LOVE RINOS when they attack conservatives but hate them when they oppose them , exhibit one : McCain.

I was one of the voters who helped Inglis lose his job. Dissatisfaction with him has been brewing since the health care town halls.
