John Parsons Wheeler 3d, a Vietnam veteran officer who served in three GOP Presidential administrations, and who chaired the committee that raised funds from businesses, agencies and prominent Americans to get the Vietnam Veterans Memorial built on the Washington Mall, was found dead in a landfill a few miles from his New Castle Delaware home this weekend.

It could be as simple as a robbery gone wrong.

Agreed - Occam's Razor.

And what a view, from 108 West 3rd, New Castle, CL. The disputed “view” and properties are clearly visible in Google Earth. I hope this distinguished American wasn’t done away with over the range of someone’s bundle of property rights. Then again, maybe I’m not looking at this right. After all he’d been through, it seems comparatively silly. But maybe it only seems that way.

I can’t find anything useful on Frank Marini. When I did a search for Frank and Regina Marini, I did turn up a report on a meeting of the Tree Commission, which says that Regina would like to become a Tree Commissioner in the town of New Castle:

Odd little fact.

It said upthread. Apparently there is someone whose job it is to watch and make sure things like hazardous waste (and bodies?!) do not end up in the landfill. I certainly wouldn’t have guessed that.

True, altho is it likely a robber would go to the trouble to try to hide the body?

Nothing exciting, but found this on Regina Marini...they are discussing trees on W. Third Street...

Ms. Regina Marini offered that she wants to work with the Tree Commission. The information that was provided last month was prepared and submitted after speaking with the City Inspector.

She is aware of the guidelines the Tree Commission set forth for the plan and is working on determining the type of trees to plant, placement and so on. Ms. Keyser asked if is her intent to return to the original grades and elevations and Ms. Marini confirmed that that is her intent.

Concerning the timeline, Ms. Keyser asked when the trees will be planted. Ms. Marini said planting would occur likely in the fall as landscaping is done. She was unsure of the type of topsoil to be used but will work with the Tree Commission to ensure a good quality is used. She has employed the services of a tree expert.

Mr. Patterson informed that Ms. Marini has received a copy of the tree planting guidelines that Russ Carlson developed. Care and maintenance are important to establish the trees and Ms. Marini agreed. Her construction company will handle the final grading and the Tree Commission wants to be kept in the loop to ensure what is being done is accurate and meets guidelines.

Mr. Patterson suggested that the tree expert Ms. Marini has hired should come before this body to ensure he understands the guidelines and/or provide a little more detail to the plan submitted tonight. Locations for the trees can be selected in conjunction with the Tree Commission.

Ms. Marini will have her tree expert assemble a plan to be submitted to this body along with her tree preferences for review.

Mr. Bayard Marin, counsel for John Wheeler and Katherine Klyce, feels the plan and way this body is proceeding is correct.

Maybe, particularly if the murder took place near the dumpster.

Possibly, but a fully grown man, dead weight is difficult to lift. I’m not discounting it, but unless they had help, that’s not an easy feat.

It is sad but ever so obvious. In the olden days mobs were not so kind. Fish bait was the norm.

Me neither, but apparently there is a real need for it. And at least this guy is doing a good job at it!
