"Where Do You Stand? Take the Political Spectrum Quiz"

By now, you all know that I have a wide range of topics that I find interesting enough to share with you. Usually, the things that I choose come from my searching for other topics. In this case I was looking for information on dogs for a few articles I will post sometime this weekend. In the process, I stumbled upon this graph that took me to a site with a quiz that will help people to understand where they stand on the political scale. So I took the quiz and learned where I stand compared to the average person who took the quiz. It's Hosted by imgur.commy guess that most of the people who have taken this quiz are much, much more liberal then I am. I say so because most of the evidence shows that Americans are a lot more conservative than this site's average says. The problem is that the site can only get an average from those who actually respond to their quiz.

Now, those of you who follow my postings most likely already know where you stand on the political or social scale. However, have you ever really taken a test like this to see where you stand? Sadly, it's such tests as this one that have a limited amount of input, along with surveys by the MSM, that most political pundits use when they report that a majority of Americans are either moderate or liberal. Thus they claim that the real power and influence is somewhere in the middle with the Independent voter. It's my firm belief that if American voters took a quiz like this one, they would be surprised to find that they fall somewhere on the right side of the political scale. Even those who normally vote for a leftist Democrat would be shocked to learn that they actually have more in common with a conservative Republican than they do with the Democrat or liberal Republican politician many of them vote for.

It really should not shock anyone though. All you have to do is listen to what Democrats say when they are running for election. They are all conservatives, until they actually get elected and start to govern. Then they are anything but a conservative, and the MSM does all they can to give them cover by keeping the masses preoccupied with what Lindsey Lohan, Brad Pitt, or Mel Gibson are doing. If they told the truth about what they believed when they were running for office, you and I know very well that they would never get elected.

The Democrats know that the vast majority of Americans are more conservative than the Democrats are. That's why Democrats and the MSM consistently lie to you during their campaigns about being conservative. Go ahead and take the Political Spectrum Quiz to see where you stand. For those who normally vote for Democrats, maybe next time you will be more informed and then vote accordingly.

The graphs below were generated by the site for me after I took the quiz. I am actually quite surprised that I rated so far to the left on the scale. It turns out I am a far-right moderate moderate social authoritarian. And I thought I was to the right of Attila. If I try real hard though, I am sure I can move a little more to the right. After all, I wouldn't want to disappoint the leftist in my town of Chico California who are convinced that I have been transported into the future from the Dark Ages.

Thanks Forgiven_Sinner, I missed that part of their site. Interesting, when I looked at their description and breakdown of those voting that gave their political affiliation I noticed how the Green party and the Democrats are basically the same? Far leftists, very few are even in the middle.

(Democrats who took quiz)

(Green Partys who took quiz)

Yet Republicans and Libertarians are more representative of the middle right on their scale.

(Libertarians who took quiz)

(Republicans who took quiz)

We have all been saying for years that the democrats are full fledged Communists, and this quiz proves our point.

I did my part in moving it right. I agree some of the questions were horribly ambiguous.

The quiz is an interesting exercise but its big weakness is it doesn't get you thinking about the larger issues, specifically: who is supreme, the individual or the state?

There were too many questions about war, abortion and other matters of current debate and too few concerning the role of government in society, IMO. As others have remarked, the matter of "who" would ban offensive works of art or writing or speech is very important--and neither the introductory paragraphs nor the questions themselves specify that body, which is a serious flaw. Most of us, I suspect, assume the government or an agency thereof, but those with less political awareness might assume otherwise (e.g., evil corporations, media monopolies, fundamentalist churches).

There were too many similar questions, as if they were trying to pin you down on issues that might be interpreted narrowly in one case and broadly in another. (There were too many questions, plain and simple.)

A much better 2-dimensional quiz--just 20 questions--based on the original Nolan Chart (also good, but outdated), can be found here.

I say this because most FReepers should be more happy with their scores and where they are placed on the chart. It also will stimulate the neurons, in a healthy way. YMMV.

Too many of the questions are worded poorly or are given to ambiguous interpretations to be really useful.

My Political Views

This is the result of forcing myself to choose only the "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree" categories; even if the question is open to interpretation. Overall, it's pretty messed up. Since I answered everything "strongly", I should be butted right up along the right hand margin - but that's not where they placed me. Don't even get me started about the vertical axis, is a total mess.

FWIW, mine came out:

Right 4.77
Authoritarian 2.08

Foreign Policy 4.75
Culture 7.11

I found some of the questions difficult to properly answer, especially the ones about so-called “moral issues”, which were poorly defined, IMHO.

To me, while nearly all issues have some moral component, only issues that exclusively deal with one’s religious beliefs or personal ethics, and that don’t involve harm to or infringement upon the rights of others, should be considered “moral issues”.

For example, while abortion is morally wrong, it is not a “moral issue” because it involves the taking of an innocent life. Same sex “marriage” is morally wrong, but it is not a “moral issue” because it is also violation of sound public policy, natural law and science.

The only real “moral issues” would be laws dealing with things like church attendance, religious practice, personal, sexual behavior in the privacy of one’s home, alcohol use, etc.

I also find questions about “corporate interests being to powerful” or “unrestrained Capitalism” tough to answer. If unrestrained Captitalism means, unrestrained, fraud, monopolies, price fixing (by corporations or unions), and other anti-competitive behavior, I think it is horrible (and not true Capitalism). If it means free, honest, naturally competitive markets, without burdensome regulations and redistribution of wealth, it is great.

Funny how Democrats who took quiz differ from their party leadership, who would all cluster in the upper left corner.
