As a Certified Federal Career Coach and Resume Writer, I regularly speak with individuals (primarily first-time federal job seekers) who are interested and determined to secure job with the federal government. Who can blame them? A government career brings with it outstanding benefits and unlimited promotional potential, not to mention that federal employees earn higher average salaries than private-sector workers in more than eight out of 10 occupations (as determined by a USA TODAY analysis). So what's problem? Well, to be frank, securing a government job can be a job itself.

Well, if you’re in the protected minority class you already have a leg up on the competition. White males need not apply.
When it comes to government jobs, it comes down to whom you know and not what you know! I am always astounded at the lack of professionalism, knowledge and information showed by the gvt workers at all levels (from city/county/state/federal). There is no way these people have successfully passed any civil test, no way on hell!
Rule #1. Kiss Obama’s ass before you head to your federal workplace.
The purpose being what? No easier way to Hell than that.

Instead of hiring more people, a government that is worse than broke, being $14 TRILLION in the hole, should be firing thousands of bureaucrats who do nothing but make life miserable for the taxpayers who pay their inflated salaries.

With all of these requirements and steps, how is it that Federal employees seem to be people who would be unemployable outside of government?
Another way to Federal employment is to live in the district of a powerful Congressperson for whom you have demonstrably worked your ass off.
This is why very very few of those who work for the government are Registered Republicans. BTW, even elected Republicans have many Democrats on their staffs. Go figure. The reverse is never true.
Not a good sign when the resume coach has a glaring spelling/grammar error.
