President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will be in Tucson Wednesday to attend the "Together We Thrive: Tucson and America" event at the McKale Memorial Center on the University of Arizona campus. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. MST (8 p.m. EST) with doors opening at 4 p.m. MST (6 p.m. EST).
According to a university news release, organizers are expecting thousands of people to attend. If the 14,000-seat arena reaches capacity, overflow seating will be available at the university's football stadium. Video of the memorial will be shown on the scoreboard's big screen.

Whoever in the political arena that set up this so called memorial must be the same persons that did the Wellstone memorial. I heard parts of it on public radio and it was purely a liberal political rally that got free international coverage by the mainstream media. From the sound of cheering after a few words of idle talk would lead one to think that Elvis came back to life or a lot of busing has taken place just for this event... When Obama spoke about how much he and Michelle loved Gabrielle and went to visit her in her room and “ SHE OPENED HER EYES FOR THE FIRST TIME “ remark made the crowd go wild and made me wanna puke. (THE HEALER HAS ENTERED THE ROOM and I AM THE ONE THAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR), Sick,Sick,Sick!
OMG these people are beyond tacky.

I turned it on. I turned it off almost immediately.
It was all about him. His grandstanding. His fans. His compassion. His healing of a wounded nation.
There is no empathy in this narcissistic monster. I didn't hear one word that could show that this sham of a human being actually comprehend the grief of the families of the dead.

I couldn’t bring myself to watch what I assumed would be a grotesque carnival of a show — a political rally disguised as a memorial service. I guess I was right.
You and I think alike. I have cut off all monetary gifts to my grandchildren who voted for, and still support, Obama.
I don’t want them using my cash to contribute to his 2012 campaign chest.
The grands who support Sarah Palin, on the other hand, have gotten an increase in their birthday and Christmas checks.

These Universities actually have (free) summer prep courses in elocution, etiquette, and personal grooming for these yahoos who just as well might have been raised in a barn.

Exactly. Which is why the two doctors corrected that misinformation in this morning's briefing. They made it exceedingly clear that the Congresswoman had been opening her eyes on and off, depending on her level of sedation.
To me, the docs appeared to be a little bit piqued at the suggestion that a "miracle" had been caused by Obama's presence.
They reiterated how much work has gone into getting Gabrielle to this point, both on her part and on the part of the wonderful staff of the neurological unit.

We had to turn it off after just a few minutes. The applause breaks and screams from the audience angered and embarrassed us. The Obama’s take every thing to the lowest level. They are classless people who are turning American society into a hip hop culture with no moral base. >>

The POTUS and wife should not even have gone there. It was not a funeral for the Congresswoman who still amazingly lives. I cannot imagine anything more inappropriate than Mr. Self-Important basking in the glow of a standing ovation. And who decided to seat Governor Brewer next to AG Holder? You can blame the ASU president who set the pep rally tone at the beginning (right after the fake “Native American”). What a huge fiasco, best soon forgotten.
I pity Tusconians and hope they can get back to normal ASAP.
I agree with your assessment, although I admit that I did not watch much of it, as I just cannot handle all of the negative emotions that watching Zero stir up.
Regarding Obama’s “we have to restore civility” comment, I wanted to throw a brick at the TV as I was watching “Special Reoport” this evening (Thursday). In the first report of the show, the reporter said something along the lines of: “Yesterday, Obama called for restoring civility, but the GOP members of the House plan to bring up a vote against Obama care anyway”. (I cannot tell you the exact words, but this was the nub of it. I looked for a transcript, but I guess it’s not available yet.) I was seething.
