The perfect program for the lazy employee. “Hey Boss, I want to have every afternoon off so I can mentor kids.”

Any corporation and/or business who would sign up for this program has got to be out of their mind.

Of course, this program will be very popular with government employees!!!!

What the heck!!!! Most people work 40+ hours a week and it’s all they can do just to keep up with their own kids and family. This is redicules.

“...to allow employees to spend part of the work day volunteering with young people.”

Who happen to live in cities and don’t have a father and are on welfare, etc...

Get it?

I used to do “Junior Achievement” back in the day. But I suspect that’s not what Michelle is talking about.

Interesting. My friend’s home-school kids already do an incredible amount of mentoring of others. Public schools are always behind the eight ball.

Moochelle says you should give your employees some weekly paid time off to do volunteer work. She’s brilliant, you know.

U.S. businesses to allow employees to spend part of the work day volunteering

Translation: Expect the already under-productive Federal workforce to end up working 4-hour days while still getting paid for 8-hour days.

Wait, wait, wait a freakin' minute!!

We are told that only 'special' people with 'certificates' should educate our youth. These 'special' people, called 'teachers' spend years getting specialized high-intensity training in college, so they can properly communicate with children, and actually teach them.

Now, these 'teachers' get special retirement programs, special classifications called 'tenure' so they can never be fired, and are given various benefits packages that just don't exist in the private sector - because these people are so 'special'.

Now, you want to have any old person demand that the company pay them - and they 'volunteer' to do what only 'certified and specialized' teachers do? I mean, if any idiot off the street can walk into a classroom and teach without any specialized training - how do you justify the NEA, special retirement programs and teacher's unions?

Not any idiot can walk in off the street and fly a plane, perform heart surgery, design a computer, or represent a client in a court of law. Yet, there are no federally recognized unions for these people.

What if someone told [Michelle Obama] that her 100 White House staffers were going to spend part of their work week “mentoring youth”?

I think she'd say "I'm thrilled, now we can hire 100 more staffers." This is the gummit you're talking about, not some business that has to balance its books.

Mentors? I suppose what Michelle has in mind is what her husband had for a mentor: Communist Frank Rich

She really is out of her mind! With all the lay offs and business closings caused by her husband.
She thinks this is what business owners are worried about??

Really!!! I sure have a real problem with it. If you have kids, and work a full time job. It’s all you can do to keep up with your own kids. Make sure they are clean feed, and loved. Make sure they’ve done their homework. Run them to a soccer, hokey, basketball, cheer leading, doctor, ballet class, religious class, ect. And who’s going to pay for this federal supervised volunteer mentoring?

Will they call it the “Civilian National Defense Corps” or somesuch? “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” ~Senator Barack Hussein Obama

“The CNCS is the federal agency that oversees volunteer programs such as AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and the United We Stand call to service introduced by President Barack Obama by video in June 2009.”...”The budget for CNCS has grown from 927.1 million in 2005 to $1,149,721,000 in 2010. Obama requested a budget of $1,415,586,000 for 2011” This should be a simple 1.4B cut for the GOP if they any balls. There are thousands of charities, non-profits, church groups, community groups, etc that do exactly the same things these programs do (and better.) Get rid of them completely. Same for the Peace Corps. Personally I think the Peace Corps is a cool idea, but again there are a thousand NGOs that do the same thing. Want to dig wells in Africa, dozens of places can help you volunteer. Want to teach people to farm in Kazakhstan, dozens of groups will help you do that. Time to reign in government.
