Forget federal government, we'll build fence ourselves
World Net Daily ^ | January 30, 2011 | Drew Zahn

A Mississippi legislator has caught on to an idea that if the federal government won't complete a border fence separating the United States from Mexico, the states will – and he's planning on taxing illegal immigrants to fund it.

Republican State Sen. Joey Fillingane has filed S.B. 2255, which would charge a fee on all money transfers wired out of the United States, then count the amount as a credit on Mississippi citizens' tax returns. The result: Only illegal immigrants sending money abroad would ultimately pay the fees, since they cannot file tax returns to receive a refund.

The net revenue from the non-refunded fees, S.B. 2255 specifies, would then be sent to states like Arizona and Texas for construction of a border fence.

When the Feds show up and start confiscating fence building equipment and arresting people...

...there will be blood.

I'm thinking this would get done on land that was either State-held, or privately owned.on private land. So, the feds could dislike it all they want; they'd have no grounds to do squat about it, and if they tried...

Well, everything you noted would be true, and I can't help but think that the outcome would turn VERY ugly in VERY short order.

I like your idea. A canal 500 foot wide complete with locks and dams. Who would need the panama canal? It is a win, win. We eliminate the illegal immigrant problem and plus we drastically reduce shipping time.

A state like Texas could build a border fence pretty cheap. Copy the Israelis with lots coiled razor wire and a see through fence. Have it patrolled by deputized citizens or even better by bounty hunters which would really tweak the parasitic scum in DC

And they are parasitic scum because they tax us and don’t do what they should do (in the Constitution) which is defend and seal our Mexican border. Instead they sic the EPA on Texas

Do you know what I realized tonight? Our government has been lying to us all along.

Took you this long?

Its simple really. The left in power wats America over run from the SOuth. I live near the US Canadaorder. That border is as tight as a drum, a stark contrast to the South. We do notwat millions of crackers from Canada coming here, we want the drug gangs and their related trash from Mexico and OSuth America to destabilize America, kill her citizens through murder and crime, bankruotState Social Services, and hack away at all of our institutions with increased sales of drugs.Soetoro has decreed it.

I’ve long been in favor of a “comprehensive” approach to solving the problem. First, the US Corps of Engineers dredges the Rio Grande to a depth capable of handling big ships. Next, use the dirt to build up New Orleans. Finally, take the excess gators from LA, GA and FL plus the piranhas that have been dumped into those states waters and put them in the Rio Grande.

Next problem, please.

I like this! I like it a lot! Hopefully the tax will be around 30-60% of the monetary value of the wire.

But, having said that... I think there needs a small tweak to the proposed legislation. Instead of a blanket tax on foreign wire transfers, there needs to be a clause stating that if you have valid proof of US citizenship (Birth Certificate, Green Card, etc)... then you aren’t taxed.

For there are legitimate reasons for Americans to wire money abroad. For example, I bought some Japanese toys from a dealer in Tokyo and had to wire the money over in order to pay.

The major result would be to drive such transfers “underground”, adding to the already huge problem of tracking asset movement resulting from other sources such as illicit-drug profits.

Sounds like this might be a big PITA for retirees that send money abroad as most are not required to file a Mississippi state tax return now and sounds like they would have to file to get rebates under this law. But i doubt that many of them send money abroad, either.

Can we call them libtards instead of liberals?

Neither for me - they are leftists or fascists or both.

South Koreans sleep peacefully on their border with the Norks consequent to the US Military. Why can’t Texans, Arizonans and New Mexicans?

Small detail.

Mississippi does not have a border with Mexico.

"Mississippi does not have a border with Mexico."

That's what makes the plan even more awesome, IMO. Surely ALL states must understand that these invaders pose a threat by sucking up services (dollars) intended for legal citizens. This proposal coming from a non-border state underscores that understanding. Imagine how quickly a few changes like this could fund the project. The potential for exploding liberal heads is a bonus.
