In less than 24 hours this week, the new Speaker witnessed an uprising from within his own ranks that resulted in a trio of legislative setbacks. It was an early reminder that party unity isn’t a given and that the Ohio Republican has some work to do to keep his Members in line.
He doesn’t have much time. Divisions are already surfacing over the forthcoming continuing resolution, set to come to the floor next week, which would cut federal spending by $32 billion, far less than the $100 billion that conservatives claim leaders promised during the campaign.
Boehner on Wednesday acknowledged the challenges he faces.
“We’ve been in the majority four weeks,” Boehner told reporters. “We’re not going to be perfect every day.”
Although conservative Republicans were among the defectors, GOP leaders disputed the notion that their decision to pull a trade bill from the floor late Tuesday and their failure to muster a two-thirds vote to pass an extension of the USA PATRIOT Act a few hours later signaled that they had lost control of the Conference.

It is the Tea Partiers who are defecting. 32 Billion in cuts doesn't cut it. We need DRASTIC Draconian style cuts to all departments in the Federal Government. We need to get rid of departments that duplicate State Agencies and we need to just fire about 10% of the Federal employees and remove them from their cushy pensions and put them on 401k's like the rest of us peons.
We may need a new speaker. Boehner needs to get into line and act like a leader.

Hear! Hear! My congressman had darn well better be among the rebels opposing Boehner's budget atrocity. This country is in dire straits and sinking fast. Any so-called "Republican" who settles for only $32 billion in cuts is a turncoat, and needs to come home.
Even $500 billion is just Saturday afternoon at the movies money. There are going to have to be several more $500 billion cuts following it up; the debt is above $14 trillion - that's 14 thousand billion, twelve 0's after the 14.

It is going to take the establishment of both parties some time to realize that business as usual is over now. Americans did not like the way they were conducting business.
We are not doing massive deficits and we are not doing quick and dirty deals we have not debated and agreed upon. We are not going to automatically violate the constitution upon the whim of freaks in DC who think they are citizens of the world. Corporate and foreign welfare queens are not automatically going to get their pay-offs for fundraising support and fringe benefits.
Things are going to slow down and be more thoughtful and logical or he’s going to lose control of everything. This new hope and change will be quite a challenge for him to manage because he won’t be able to just bulldoze it with hysteria.

Boner and the old guard need to get with the program.
We need to totally restructure the government back to it’s constitutional realm and that is going to be the only reform that has a hope of rescuing the country in the aftermath of the train wreck called Obama (with help from Bush). The New World Order’s foreign entanglements has to go. The leadership of countries can’t even run themselves let alone the dang world.
Cutting a little out of this and that is not going to do much good now. Obama and the Congress tipped us over the edge.
Anything budget that causes an annual deficit is unacceptable, which probably means over $1 Trillion needs to be cut.
Do Republicans need a Balanced Budget Amendment to force them to be responsible?!

Here is how most people think:
1. If govt makes HUGE, Across-the-Board budget cuts, I do not much mind my govt check getting cut because everyone shares the burden and it is necessary.
2. If govt makes Small, Targeted cuts, then I will resent my govt check getting cut, because everyone else still gets their checks and it will not produce meaningful results.
Big cuts are easier than small cuts.

What is needed for voters in a state that allows recall of congress critters to get mad and recall one or two of them. Make an example of them. Find a couple who have not toed the line and move to recall them. The recall attempt might not be successful but it sure would get their attention.
Even two years is too long to have a congress person doing harm and not living up to campaign promises.

I think we should be worried about this scandal being reported in the National Enquirer. They are usually right and they are saying Boehner has been having affairs etc. If this turns out to be true the Dems and the MSM will have a field day with it and then Boehner will be hounded into resigning. It will cripple the GOP agenda. I just hope its not true.
