Fellow Reporters Heartlessly Mock Lara Logan After Assault
Babble ^ | 2/15/11 | CAROLYN CASTIGLIA

Posted on 02/16/2011 4:40:39 AM PST by jimbo123

As Mary Elizabeth Williams wrote earlier this evening over at Salon, several reporters and bloggers have “decided to hinge the story” of Lara Logan’s rape “on the blond reporter’s looks.” Simone Wilson’s LA Weekly post mocks Logan’s beauty, saying, “Egyptian protesters apparently consummated their newfound independence by sexually assaulting the blonde reporter.” Consummated? Unconscionable.

The Mofo Politics blog featured a post on February 3rd, saying, “OMG if I were her captors and there were no sanctions for doing so? I would totally rape her.”

No. You cannot compare the two. Female cops are trained to deal with situations and have means to defend themselves. And quite honestly, all cops know that getting shot is part of the job. What happened to this woman isn’t really in the job description.

Sexually assaulted doesn’t sound like a lot of fun, either, and I don’t think any of us would enjoy being sexually assaulted by a mob (of Muslims or anything else). And nobody “deserves” it or should have to cover it up.

Great truth in your post for those who can see it.

The enemy will say anything, assume any posture to achieve their goals.

They believe in nothing, that is besides the need for power and to control all mens lives to think and act as they or be crushed.

The Lord of Nothing is the lord they serve and nothingness is their reward by trying to gain all they can see with poor mortal sight.

I feel no Kinship to rat-kind we have no link no bond. She reaped what she suffered from a poor choice the foremost of which was to serve evil.

Of course you can compare the two. But if you don’t like that example, what about war-time journalists? I guess if Bill Mauldin had gotten seriously hurt, you’d tell him it was his fault, he shouldn’t have been there, etc.

I mean, the gymnastics that you’re going through on this. What if she had simply been reporting in the Chicago housing projects?

Sorry if I was too cryptic. The Kos cult is a scary place run by psychopaths which reflects the basic mentality of the left, but our respectable conservatives give them way too much credit. I guess they don’t want some screaming lunatic calling them names.

She was there because she worked for a network and that was her job. We don’t know much about her politics, and frankly, that doesn’t matter anyway.

I would suspect that CBS, wanting to get a story and also wanting to support the Muslim Brotherhood-inspired protesters, was probably not honest about the crowd or the conditions into which they were sending the reporters.

What we heard reported here sounded like a flower-power rally, while some of the European press was more honest and it was clear that things were ugly there. So I’d say it was CBS wanting to support Bambi that put her there - the very same CBS that didn’t even want to admit what had happened until other news sources seemed to be about to cover it.

She was just doing her job, like it or not. But her employer’s inability to admit the truth about Muslims (namely, they hate women and see a Jewish conspiracy behind ever pebble) and the truth about what was really happening in Egypt put her in harm’s way .

The attack of this poor woman tells me all I need to know now about the ‘protests’ in Egypt.

It is a ROP mob takeover

So now the residents of Chicago housing projects are comparable to a frenzied Muslim lawless mob in a middle eastern hellhole? Ha! You're probably not far off.

Look if you think it's ok for a blonde attractive female reporter to be in the middle of something like that, then that's fine. You're entitled to that opinion. Something tells me you wouldn't let your wife/daughter do it, though.

Back in WW2 and Vietnam you needed reporters embedded with soldiers. There was no other way to get the story out. Today there are so many ways to get video and commentary I don't think it's necessary to plop a woman like this in the middle of anarchy. This isn't a war where she was walking around with US soldiers. Don't you see the difference???

If she was just groped, I don’t think a sexual aspect would have been mentioned- it would have just been described as “assault”. For the media, who are usually surprisingly sensitive to privacy in these cases, to have used the term “sexual assault” it must have been something obvious enough that it would have come out eventually anyway.

Go to Kos

Why should sand lake bar go to Kos?

This FReeper is merely expressing disgust at some of the comments on this thread that are...disgusting.

People celebrating this incident or blaming Logan for what happened ought to be ashamed of themselves.

They won't be...they've already demmonstrated their mindset, but shame on them anyway.

Ugliness, bile and ignorance were once rare.

Really? I guess you are too new to remember "Just Damn" and Ash Alerts, not to mention some of the utter lunatic conspiracy tards.

It's the Internet. Ugliness and bile are just a mouse-click away. So are a lot of good things.

I think that I’m thankful that we have men and women journalists willing to cover news events that are often difficult and dangerous. If my daughter decided to do this for a living, of course I’d be concerned—but I’d respect her choice. And if she were ever hurt the way this woman was hurt, I’d never say, “See what you did?”

Why? I’ll tell you why, if you think some Freepers are being idiots you have not seen anything till you read 300+ responses which are basically stating, “any hint of ‘islamophobia’ and you will be punished” that is on kos right now. Don’t do the Kos cult’s work for them.

There's difficult and dangerous, and then there's just plain stupid! I'm not faulting her alone. CBS should have seen this, but liberals all have their blinders on when it comes to this situation. They see these people as freedom loving citizens which is an absolute crock.

Again, she didn't have any protection. None. If I were her, I'd rather be in the worst part of Afghanistan surrounded by a Special Forces team than in the middle of Cairo with a cameraman.

Let's just agree to disagree.

Oh, I have no doubt. I haven't seen their comments about this incident, but I've been there before and found them repulsive.

That doesn't make it OK for us here to act like savages, IMO. Yes, the woman is a flaming liberal and probably completely disdains people like us, but I would not wish upon her what happened to her and I am disappointed to see some FReepers having a gleeful reaction to the brutalization and sexual assault of a fellow American.

Don’t do the Kos cult’s work for them.

What???

Sure I remember the nonsense of a decade ago....my point is that I also remember the intelligent discourse and see that the percentage of the former has increased drastically while the percentage of the latter has dropped pro-rata.
