$60 billion. Call me underwhelmed. At that rate we’ll have a handle on this deficit in about 1000 years.

Time to double up on a quadruple meat ax.

I’d like to know, too. Might they have voted “no” because these cuts are pathetic in size ?

Still has to pass the Senate, not likely.

But, if they maintain this stance and we take control of the Senate and pick a few seat in the house, we will win no matter if Barry MuBarak is re-elected but, we will most definitely put an end to these ridiculous programs.

For instance, Planned Parenthood.

I have no problem with their programs regarding prevention or family planning.

However, 99% of their funded activities are directly related to abortion.

If Abortion was such a great business idea, it would find funding from the private sector.

However, it wouldn’t survive without direct funding from the taxpayer, ever.

I don’t know what the actual number is. $100 billion was the goal but they fell short?

Ace of Spades is saying:

Um: Half of Republican Caucus, Especially Leadership and Old Guard, Votes With Democrats To Block Additional $22 Billion in Cuts

$60 billion/$100 billion?!?! Not even close...Obama just proposed $53 billion in new spending for “high speed” rail!

Cuts need to be 10x that much just to get to started!

The rats fear the country will not rise up over cuts.

If all we see are their narrow base of unions, enviro nazis, and assorted lunatics protesting in the streets, it will not sit well with normal Americans. Just as a majority do not sympathize with the NEA and assorted union goons in WI, most will not shed a tear for these cuts.

This is a start. The Leviathan state cannot be turned around on a dime. Thank your nearest pubbie Congressman for voting to stop the insanity.

The single cut that would do the most good for the most people world-wide would be to defund the UN, and evict them from U.S. soil. It is a criminal cabal that does it’s best to use our $$ to destroy our way of life. And, possibly, even more corrupt than our government.

This is a triumph of rhetoric over reality - $61 billion and the Democrats are describing Armageddon and the Republicans are crowing about the huge accomplishment - neither is true. This is actually a small reduction when massive reductions are needed.

Annual deficit of $1.6 Trillion (1,600,000,000,000.00).
They saved $60 Billion (60,000,000,000).
Why am I not impressed?

Im really sorry to say this but both parties are sickening. The political charades abound. Im pretty sick of tax exemptions for breast feeding, Palin continuing the political discourse, and a bunch of impotent legislators talking about how America needs change.

Both parties are completely polarized resulting in an inability to get anything done for America. I know good people who are both Democrats and Republicans. They dont act like these politicians in DC. They just want what is fair just and honorable for our country without all the drama.

It would be wise to remember that the vote was on a budget for the current year that is almost half over. Very soon there will be a vote for a budget for the entire fiscal year 2012.

It is that budget where the remaking of the government will take place. There will be time for extended debate and consideration

Patience
