Analysis: Lack of funds a sign for Huck (that he will most likely not run for President)

Karen Tumulty's piece on Mike Huckabee today makes abundantly clear that he has little appetite to dive back into presidential politics. There was one line in particular that illustrated why a second run appears increasingly unlikely.

Asked how he'd run differently in 2012, the former Arkansas governor told Tumulty: "Money — lots of it. One thing I'm certainly going to gauge over the next few months is, would there be substantial financial support. ... I don't plan to jump in a pool that has no water."

Yet even though he knows he'd need more cash this time around he's done seemingly nothing to cultivate the GOP donor class.

There have been rumors for months that Huckabee was incline not to run....if so this gives Sarah a huge opportunity in IA and SC more than ever before. It would be Palin and Herman Cain vs a lot of Establishment/RINO types......Huckabee is a big government guy but he used his social conservative credentials to win support from a lot more fiscal/social conservatives than normal .....

Huckabee wouldn’t be a good President, so it would be good if he wouldn’t run.

We need a tough conservative, not a nice guy.

Sarah is like Huck...way too nice to implement the drastic changes that are needed to save the country.

So that's why Lefties hate her so much?

She's too nice to spoil their party?

I’m a moral conservative and one of the few on FR that actually gave some money to Huckabee during the 2008 primary. I thought he would represent my key views (moral issues) if elected.

I gave up on Mike as being a true moral conservative when went AWOL in December and did not speak out against DADT repeal and the homosexualization of the military. At that point, I wrote him off and WILL NOT support him again. However, Palin was ALSO AWOL on the homosexual issue, and has done nothing since then to convince me she cares. As such I WILL NOT support her either. I believe a great many moral conservatives him myself have the same view and won’t support her. Bachman has a better chance of getting the “values” voters than Palin. For that matter even Santorum does.

IF Sarah runs, she is going to get pounded by the religious right for some of her “ommissions” that aren’t acceptable. Her “not taking a stand on Goproud at CPAC” for one. So, you cannot assume that Huckabee dropping out helps Palin. Palin is to libertarian, in many ways, to fully appeal to the solid moral conservatives.

the Wash Post article today says he’s building a home in Florida.

He ain’t running. Why would he give up his good and sure gig, for something rather unsure? Palin, too, for that matter.

I think the nominee is going to be Daniels. And I think he’ll win.

Though, a few months ago, I thought Huck would win....but I think he’s just too comfortable right now.

You have not heard Sarah at all, she has spoken about deep cuts and entitlement reforms which no other potential has seriously delve into including Mitch ago who just recently talked about it

Palin is mostly likely going to run......where is your evidence that she enjoys the money more than anything else? We have evidence that she got her people making runs in IA.

I hope that several well-known Republicans will announce their presidential campaigns this week. Then-Sen. Obama anounced his presidential campaign four years ago, this month.

Never misunderestimate the Huckster's motives. He carefully studied the Clinton playbook. He's a master at telling you what he thinks you want to hear. Snake oil salesman extraordinaire.

McCain run out of money early in the primaries, but somehow managed to get himself resurrected.

Huckabee will just clog up the stage of wannabes, if he does jump in. I hope he stays out. It seems there were rumors that his wife was vehemently against his running again.

Daniels won’t win. He has no facial features and causes narcolepsy.

DeMint - out
Pence - out
Thune - out
Huckabee - out
Christie - out
Romney - dropping like a rock
Daniels - flavor of the week due to Romney’s weakness. No chance.

This thing could be over without firing a shot.

She is inevitable.
She has been since she first walked oon the stage.
They all know it and it makes them insane.

She is inevitable.

Wouldn't it be a real kicker if only Palin and Bachmann made it to the final GOP debate?

That would send the Left/MSM off the cliff.

I agree with you. The odd thing, is that nobody stepped up to the plate on this issue. Heck, Ron Paul voted for it! No Palin, no Huck, no Thune, no Barbour, no Daniels, no Romney, no Bolton, no Goodman, no Johnson ... even Bachmann seemed kind of weak.

Palin didn’t attend CPAC. GOProud was an invited participant. DeMint did not attend as a result. Santorum and Bachmann attended in spite of GOProud participation. Seems pretty hypocritical to me. As a result, I no longer consider Santorum or Bachmann true social conservatives. They were obviously more interested in promoting themselves than taking a stand.
