Gingrich On Libya: Thankfully, French Not Distracted By Brackets
TPM via Drudge ^ | 3/18/2011

Posted on 03/18/2011 3:16:11 PM PDT by GVnana

Newt Gingrich told reporters today that the Libyan rebels have France's lack of bracket fever to thank for the no-fly zone that will soon protect them from aerial attacks by embattled dictator Muammar Qaddafi.

Asked about the U.N. Resolution authorizing military intervention in Libya -- something Gingrich has been pushing for a while now -- Gingrich ripped President Obama for not acting sooner, and again mocked him for his March Madness bracket.

"I was, frankly, very disappointed that [Nicolas] Sarkozy did not share with us his Final Four picks," Gingrich said, referring to the French president, who's nation has led the push for military intervention in Libya. "And i think it's his failure to understand the Final Four that allowed him to focus on Libya on a way tha. Clearly, if he had understood the American system he would have understood that his is not a good week to deal with Libya because this is the week to deal with Kansas, Ohio State, and you know things that were really important."

“I enjoy a well-timed zinger!”

That f*(&*^& fool in the White House has us sucking hind tit to the French when it comes to war. That’s hilarious.

Sarkozy is the President of France.

Obama is the President of Basketball Operations.

Votes present on the F4 by choosing the favorites in all 4 brackets. No decision making ability enven for fun.

“Putter or Driver, which would you use?”

Pray for America

Well, the fact that the French are so eager to respond gives me some pause, even in the midst that whatever this president does I’m against. This should give us a clue that we need to keep our noses out of this. Not one American life should be put in Jeopardy over this kabuki theater....

Asked about the U.N. Resolution authorizing military intervention in Libya -- something Gingrich has been pushing for a while now
and then he made a mocking joke which isn't funny.

I’m with you. Let the French and UK carry the bucket for once. I heard even the Hosers are sending 6 warplanes. Good for them. We need to sit this one out.

Political calculations. It's in Russia's (and China's) interest to prop up the weakling Baracchio for four more years. A veto would have been a politically-damaging, major embarrassment for BHO and the U.S.

Couldn't Newt just go away, or maybe look for another wife? Does he really want us to go to war to support G-d know who who is trying to overthrow Qaddafi? Does he think these are Psalm Readers? What a schmuck!

Although the military is strongly conservative, it’s a sad fact that among out GOP leadership military participation at any level is pretty piss poor. Gingrich aside, there are many guys who should have served but didn’t. There are many more who seemed to engineer their wartime military service to avoid combat. Guys like John Kline, Duncan Hunter and Alan West are truly the exception, not the rule, and that is a shame.

“when do we go into Africa and Mexico ?”

I’m with you. I’d rather go in and take care of the failed Narco State of Mexico. Then maybe the ranchers on the border could walk out their freakin front door without a drug cartel in the front yard. Don’t get me started.

Lets not jump the gun. Sarkozy may have filled out his Champions League brackets back around Labor Day.
