John Bolton was one of those “intelligence experts” during the Reagan Administration. He’s ALL FOR decisive action by the US administration. I would point you to an earlier post of mine that illustrates Bolton’s position.

This is more Hillary’s war than Obama. Same way the Bosnia war was Bill’s war. A good war, in the Clinton mind, is the won that has no benefit whatsoever to the USA.

You forgot to scream “Halliburton!,” as if that were the accusation of all time.

George W. Bush has made it clear he sees the action as a model of how not to strike back at terrorism. “When I take action, I’m not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt,” Bush reportedly told a group of senators. “It’s going to be decisive.”

This war has allied backing, and is going against a former sworn enemy of the US

Oh, please...then why did we accept the Libyan governments payment of damages to the Lockerbie families? And why did we normalize relations under GW Bush?

And why are you so committed to the unerring wisdom of our erstwhile allies to help out the denizens of the Islamist fever swamps of Eastern Libya? You want to commit US blood and treasure, then the onus is on you to answer these questions. ,

In Panama we had a US lieutenant killed; in Grenada we had US citizens in jeopardy, and in Reagan/Libya we had us servicemembers killed.

This is not an exigent circumstance. There is plenty of time to bring this before Congress.

Obama was undecided what to do until the French started shooting. Then he said, “Me too.”

Ghadaffi has to go now because if we leave him there, he will just exact revenge on all of us, he is so fruitloop, that he wouldnt think twice of doing some more Lockerbies.

Of course we support our troops, but that doesn’t mean we support the decisions of our politicians. This is both unauthorized and lacking in ethical authority.

It is at the whim of a president acting outside constitutional parameters.

“Unconfirmed that a French jet is down.”

Libyan TV, AFP and AJE reporting this. French Def Ministry denies.

My opinion is let these (Libyan) people kill themselves. I care for neither side .... poop on all of them and iran.

It’s probably just a matter of Mommy favoring the older one. Some people don’t understand how damaging it is to pick favorites when you have kids.

110 Tomahawks at a million per?!? Who’s picking up THIS tab?

We are, but maybe they are using up old stocks against a relatively unsophisticated mil in order to replace them with newer upgraded models?

Still this is a very bad move, but what can we expect from the clueless WH?

Elections have consequences ...

I agree! may poo be upon zer0 and his minions for opening another front.
Why not iran zer0? Is it because you (zer0) and democrats love iran,
amadinerjacket, and the mullahs?

Insanity ... pure insanity.

Go US Military! They are my dog in this fight, dog poo on zer0.

"This is not an exigent circumstance.."

They are if you're one of the civilians on the ground getting massacred by Kaddafi's forces.

The War Powers Act (and '73 Resolution) doesn't just stipulate that it must be American citizens that are in immediate harm (although I would point out that Americans have been taken hostage this very week). It also stipulates that "The constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities". As I said, ratified Treaties are part of the "constitutional powers".

"There is plenty of time to bring this before Congress"

There was certainly time to "go to Congress" in '86. Those service members were killed in a disco (IIRC). There wasn't an air of immediacy to that operation. Kaddaffi wasn't going anywhere.

Obama, or any president, is well-within his authority given the circumstances.
