If you are going to conduct illegal war, conduct illegals war. Whoever gave the order should be tried for war crimes. You cannot have war crime trials of people and then do the same crap yourself.

My guess is that we now have boots on the ground as liaison and controlling the air strikes.

seems like this Qaddafi problem could have been resolved with a single way placed bullet. How much does a single well placed bullet cost? How much will this “kinetic military action” cost?

Vice Adm. William Gortney, staff director for the Joint Chiefs, insists that the U.S. is not coordinating attacks with the opposition forces or using airstrikes in direct support to help them gain ground.

Word mincing alert. Nah, pounding the piss out of Gadaffi's armor and little technicals couldn't possibly support the rebels in gaining ground.

A top military official says the U.S. was striking Libyan targets with low-flying Air Force AC-130 gunships and A-10 Thunderbolts over the weekend, bolstering speculation that the U.S. air missions have served to support rebels seeking to overthrow Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.

Exactly who are the "rebels" and what is their relationship to Al-Qaeda? Exactly who are we killing with our gunships? Why? I do not understand. What will overthrowing Gadhafi accomplish, besides creating another country controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda hostile to Christians and the USA?

People from the middle east use the word "democracy" to please the westerners; they do not know what democracy is.

Obama is looking for another Mogadishu on his hands, and just when one thinks he cannot do any worse as POTUS he proves them wrong.

They'll take out those tanks before they can violate that “No Fly Zone”?

Obama's getting bad press on this... for example, AP's Ann Gearan said:

The Nobel Peace Prize winner never used the word "war" to describe what's happening in Libya, but made a point of addressing what the conflict he chose "says about the use of America's military power, and America's broader leadership in the world, under my presidency."

The blush is off the rose.

This bad boy is not intended to enforce a "No Fly Zone":

500 mile stretches of Libya make Twenty-Nine Palms look lush and green. There is no way to mask the movement of armored units in this sandbox. This is a turkey shoot for gunships and A-10s. Not to mention UAV's.

However, as one approaches the coast, there are well wooded mountains and it is lush enough to give cover to the tanks and artillery pounding Misurata and blasting the harbor where the relief ships are trying to get in. A pity we haven't a real battleship or even a couple of heavy cruisers to secure the perimeter with counter-battery fire ... a lot cheaper than the million-dollar a round missiles.

Undoubtedly there are laser painter teams on the ground, and helos will be needed to suppress sniper fire from the rooftops and tall buildings.

Who knows how well Gadaffi is organized. He could pull back into the desert and run a harassing operation for a long time. Got to blast him in the coastal strip. He probably has 10 years worth of COMBLOC hardware and ammo stashed around the country.

Except that we shouldn't be there at all, this seems an excellent adventure so far! With all the different AFs, it reminds me a bit of the old "Blackhawk" comic series! I wonder why the Gyppos aren't in it. They have 425 Thousand men under arms and they could use the exercise, not to mention control of an oil field or two along the Eastern border.

OOPS! Bless me O politically Correct fathers, I have sinned in thought and word!

Are those A-10s the most well-suited aircraft we have for air-to-air combat? The purpose of a no-fly zone is to prevent the enemy from flying, is it not?

I wonder what the A-10’s air-to-air combat record is over its history...

If we’re in there with AC-130s and A-10s, this isn’t like any “no fly zone” I’ve ever heard of....

So if this is supposed to end Wednesday, that means Muammar just has to button down for another 36 hours?

Apparently obama has given a muslim military force the most powerful close air support in the world.
