I agree with you on the Koran being book of fiction. I am having a hard time trying to figure out the rioting and the destruction of property in their home country. I do not go and set fire to my home or my neighbors business because some moron burned a Bible in Donkey Fart, Afghanistan. What is the thinking behind that. They don’t think that is the whole problem. Let those idiots burn the whole country to the foundations. The CIA ought to give these people a bunch of explosives and then tell them somebody burnt a Koran in Texas. Sit back and let them destroy themselves. Bring our guys home.

INDEED.

Demonized folks often think little, if at all.

And very rarely very rationally, congruently, logically.

It would be good to read Douglas Adams about the Krikets :)

But on a serious note, the reason for the destruction of property is that they do not own much of anything and their madrassas (funded by the Saudis) push it into them that dying for the Koran will send them to a better place. They have no hopes on this present earth, they have no past (despite Afghanistan having millenia of history, the Islamic hordes have removed the memories of the great Hindu, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, Jain and Greek religious temples, monuments and universities that were part of this landscape.

My wife accuses me of acting like Sheldon Cooper at times, but hey, one needs to start from the beginning to really understand why the modern world acts like it does. So, here's what I recall (will recheck the facts but am pretty sure these are accurate):

Afghanistan is part of the overall Indo-Irani cultural "continent" with a history stretching back to Aryan times when it was part of Kambojas as mentioned in the Vedas. This area was the seat of a lot of cultural exchanges and Hinduism, Zoroastrianism and Buddhism mixed here. Northern Pakistan was the site of many great Hindu universities like Taxila and Buddhist ones and monasteries too.

By the 1st century AD, Nestorian Christians (Church of the East/Assyrians/now Chaldean Catholics) had permeated here and there were many Christian converts.

This area and all of Central Asia (what is now Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, AFghanistan, Kirghizia and parts of southern Kazakhstan were Irani with Irani (Scyth/Saka/Sarmatian) tribes that later agglomerated into federations and states like Bactria and Sogdiana and were satraps in the Persian Achaemenid, Seleucian and PArthian empires

under the Greco-Bactrian and Indo-Greek and then Saka kings this place was a center of high culture.

And then Islam came..... starting from 800 AD, this was slowly destroyed.

and with the coming of Islam the Turkic tribes also infiltrated and killed millions of Iranis (Christians and Zoroastrians), making Central Asia primarily Turkic as it is today but with Irani culture

The Irani Pashtuns/Pathans and Tajiks and Iranified turks the Uzbeks were conquered by Pathan warlords to form the state of Afghanistan. This place was barbaric, nothing like it's past and was used as a frontier state between the British and Russian empires by the end of the 1800s.

Afghanistan had a chance in the early 50s when Kabul was quite a liberated place and burqas were not to be seen. The Communists took over and things were bad, but nothing compared to what it is now. And then the Taliban came -- Pathans indoctrinated in Saudi-sponsored and Saudi, Wahabbi run madrassas in Pakistan, they came with American weapons given to them by the Pakistanis and they put the final nail into the coffin of this once great state.

Now the Afghanis have nothing to live for and everything to die for -- the US invasion did improve things, but a lot more is needed. India was doing this, bringing back culture to Afghanistan, but the Pakistanis have been sponsoring war in this country (Pakistan prefers a chaotic Afghanistan as if Afghanistan is peaceful then the Pathans in Pakistan's North-West Frontier province will want to split Pakistan and join their brethern in Afghanistan and if that happens then the Baluchis will want to join THEIR brethern in the Irani province of Sistan-E-Balochi (Baluchis are Irani people too). This would leave just the Punjabis and Sindhis and Muhajirs (Moslems who came to Pakistan from central india during Partition) in Punjab and Sindh. And all three groups despise each other and fight each other.)

For these people, life is not worth living and a little "fun" like breaking bricks can make their lives "interesting".

What is needed is a heavy dose of Christianity,.
