Pawlenty comes from a blue collar back ground. A meat packing, union town, I believe. After all, that was his answer to every single question in the first debate.

If Palin doesn't run, not only will her time have passed, but she has no standing. Sure, YOU and others might be interested in what she has to say, but that isn't how politics and our nation works. Who gave a damn what Harold Stassen had to say, for instance, after he ran and ran and ran for president? Who cares what the Huckster has to say now?
I never claimed that Sarah "NEEDS" an elected office, for anyone to care what she has to say; however, if she doesn't run, now, she's a has been; someone who failed to enter the fray, when she could have. It doesn't make her look good.
I keep seeing West put on the front or back of people’s ‘dream ticket’. West had a nice military career and has been in congress for five months. Has he given any indication that he is at all interested in running for a higher office?
But, did he serve in Viet Nam?
And FWIW...............I do believe that she IS going to run.

I ask Mark Steyn, and all of you who agree with him on this a respectful question: What is it that concerns you about Sarah running for president?
If you see her as a kingmaker, why not let her run, and when she drops out (because she’s a “poor” candidate) THEN become kingmaker? What are you afraid of? I’d love to see one of you articlulate this coherently and honestly.
We are in complete agreement re Palin and why others refuse to see it, is beyond me. It really is quite obvious and simple.

Yes, it IS hard to accept. Because there is no reason for her NOT to run. Why should she noyt run?
Mark Steyn is perfect? He’s never wrong? Guess what, he is wrong on this!
I would also like to know what he thinks would continue Palin's strength as a "kingmaker" in the event that she doesn't run?
nopardons is correct in post #12 when he points out what is oddly invisible to Steyn: If Palin doesn't run, she is a NOBODY and who cares what she has to say?
Steyn's disappointing and sad suggestion is to take a perfectly ripe opportunity and a unique asset to a limited government movement growing in Americans, and chuck 'em both in the trash heap. I get the sense that Steyn is coming from a place of fear. Not fear of Palin, but fear of losing against what he imagines to be rote; he fears her supporters aren't real.
All for the illusion of "safety" in the status quo of business-as-usual mules like Pawlenty.

The smart move by one of these guys is to tap her as VP again.
Wendy and Mark are right on this. Sarah Palin is, sadly, unelectable as President and she’s smart enough to know it.
However, she does have a huge amount of support and respect from rank-and-file conservatives who would be willing, if she asked them to, to hold their nose and vote for an otherwise imperfect candidate.
She will not run for President in 2012, she will use her bully pulpit of popularity and media attention to put light on conservative values and causes and - when the time comes - she’ll throw her support behind the eventual GOP candidate. If that candidate wins (which is unlikely in the extreme) she may parlay her supporting them into an appointment position, perhaps Sec. State or Chairman of the GOP which she could then use to launch a future Presidential bid, though I doubt that.
As much as I would love for her to run, I think it would harm her irrevocably. She has such low ratings with over half of the country (because of the MSM) that it would make it almost impossible to be elected...but she still has the ear of almost all Republicans. That makes her very valuable as a guide to the election.
Just being realistic, not at all against her candidacy. Would vote for her in an instant, but would also have doubts that she would have a chance this time around... Our lovely MSM would prevent that.
I like Steyn a lot, but I disagree with him about Palin.
If she entered the race I think she’d vault to the top of the Republican primary polls. I think the waiting game has largely been about seeing what she is going to do. If she joins the race she would immediately effectively knock out many of the 2nd and 3rd tier candidates.
Palin could stay back and be a king/queen maker, but I think she’d be better off seizing the moment and throwing her hat in the ring. She brings charisma, energy and a ton of grass roots/movement conservative support. She has the ability to appeal to most mainstream Republicans/conservatives AND the fed-up-with-the-establishment Tea Party folks.
I don’t think polls showing her with high general election negatives make any difference right now. Even Hillary Clinton had uber high negatives and she joined the race and nearly beat Hussein for the Dem nomination.
I suppose Steyn has a point about TPaw if Palin doesn’t run, but I really hope we can do better than him. TPaw has some good stuff going for him, but I think Republicans want someone to get fired up about, not just someone to vote for. I believe Palin could unite and excite the party far more than any other candidate in the race could do.
I don't understand WHY I have been getting an argument/resistance about what I posted, as it is just common sense and a fact of life, for as long as this nation has existed.
Palin has but one shot and that time is now; not in some future universe/time period.

Romney's father ran for president a couple of times. Nobody ever gave a damn about what he had to say after his first loss. Oh hell, they didn't care during the first one!
Pawlenty hasn't a chance, neither do Newt, Paul, Romney, Cain, or Daniels!
West isn't running, neither is Jindal, and Christi doesn't stand a chance, even IF he is forced into it, which I doubt he will give in to.
