(Reuters) - Some prominent Jewish Americans are rethinking their support for President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election bid after he effectively called on Israel to give back territory it has occupied since 1967 to Palestinians. The backlash after Obama's keynote speech on the Middle East has Democratic Party operatives scrambling to mollify the Jewish community as the president prepares to seek a second term in the White House.

Other then the crusades I can not think of any other time that Christians did anything bad to Jews.

Much of the Jewish community came from Eastern Europe during the period 1870-1910. During this time it was well documented that many clerics with backing from local potentates (politicians) would spread blood libel and in much of Eastern Europe is was common for Easter services to be concluded by stoning the local synagogue or worse.

What’s to ponder? They will cough up for anti-semitic muslim when it’s all said and done. The only thing that matters is money, and what it can buy.

While Barbara Streisand writes a large check to Obama’s campaign.

A fool and her money are soon parted.

“Top Jewish Americans ponder support for Obama” — those who believe this have assumed a fact not in evidence.

American Jews are Liberal Democrats first, last, and always BEFORE Judaism even rears its head. They will vote for the Muslim-in-Chief by 70 to 80 percent.

I think when all is said and done, the majority of American Jews, who are liberals first and jews second will vote for 0bama.

You can count on it. 78% of the American Jews voted for Obama in 2008. Liberal, Jewish radio talk show host, Mark Levine, says it might drop to 70% in 2012. The young American Jews, who are so stinking liberal don't give a rat's rear about the homeland. I just don't understand that.

after hearing all of those facts they still ran to the polls to vote for Obama..they don’t think about Israel.

When they remember Hitler’s death camps it will be too late.

The anti-Semites are trolling all the Israel threads on FR. Sheesh, these people wear their hatred for Jews so clearly on their sleeve and think it somehow has the bearing of being "conservative." Israelis did not vote for Obama, in fact they despise him - and yet we get nonsense like this on every thread.

I think we should start blaming Catholics for voting for Obama. After all, FAR more Catholics voted for him than Jews.

Jewish voters turned against George McGovern in 1972 and Jimmy Carter in 1980. Why not this time?

First of all, I'd like to see or hear some stats on those two elections. But, Don't forget, The U.S.A. is a helluva lot more Liberal now than it was in 1972, for sure.

Some of us are your biggest supporters, and we didn’t vote for Obama. Fear not, the anti-semites hate us as much as they hate you.

Now thats funny

We must be careful not to stigmatize all Jews because of a bunch of American libtard Jews. Jews have been victims of pogroms, murders, genocides, discrimination, etc by so-called “christians” throughout the ages. They tend to side with democrats because of their perceived long-standing civil rights records. Many republicans (as well as democrats)have been guilty of antisemitism.

Thank you! Reading some of the snarky comments on this thread, it is no wonder that Jews in the US are wary of "Republicans." Everyone should remember: Israelis did not give us Obama - even American Jews did not give us Obama - the average non-Jew gave us Obama. It just so happens that Jews in Israel despise Obama. And the Jews in Israel outnumber liberal Jews in America.

Thank you. Israeli Jews, especially the religious, know that the American evangelical community is on their side.

It is sad here on FR when anything "Jewish" is mentioned, the long-knives come out. Sometimes "conservatives" are their own worse enemies.

That is correct and that is what thrust them in the arms of being sympathetic to Communism, and the Bolsheviks protected them from the Pogroms if my memory is correct. In many ways todays Reform Jews here in America are still carrying great great great ( how many more?) Grandma and Grandpa’s baggage with them in terms of political leanings... Compound that with all the intellectuals of Jewish decent who’s philosophies they may mave absorbed that still might be controversial (from late 1800’s and early 1900’s) and their maybe a lot to let go of.
