Welfare is up +30% under Obama because Obama is a horrific president, not because folks are saying “I think I’ll just lounge on the dole.”
Your second proves my point that this is all about owning those on welfare.
Not my business? Did I ask anything about your charitable giving? You said you were sick of the poor. I was just showing how God feels about the poor. If welfare to the poor were eliminated, how would that impact you?
I think it should be unconstitutional for employers as well.
An unreasonable search and seizure only if a positive result could be used for criminal prosecution. Hopefully, the drafters of the statute prohibited this. If they did, I see no problem because drug tests are commonly required to obtain certain jobs and benefits.
In a perfect world I would agree with you. But it’s not and I can think of many instances where I’m glad the workers were tested and know they can be randomly tested as well. I know people can cheat the tests and some can slip through. I’ve been in workplaces where people were stoned and I far prefer a workplace where people are “clean”.
I don’t think any of the subsequent comments have refuted your points.
Those who say the drug test is not compulsory because a voluntary application is involved should be required to give DNA, urine and blood samples and receive a colonoscopy when applying for their driver’s licenses.
Then I'll ask again: What was your point in quoting scripture to me, scripture that included the phrase, "..but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.?
“Who cares? Personally, I’m sick of “the poor”.”
And then you say;
“Not only do I not oppress the poor, but I happen to give generously to various charities (not that thats any of your business).”
Somehow your first statement makes me doubt your second. None of my business either way, just defending ilovesarah because you are the one who made the comment about being sick of the poor.
You are obviously poor at reading.
Nowhere did ilovesarah say she/he was for stealing for charity, but again you prove my point about this being anger at welfare in general. Nothing about saving money.
You don’t know me, you don’t know what I THINK.
You make assumptions about people when nothing has been said to indicate that.
Therefore, YOU are being hope.
If I pay for them, then yeah, I own them.
Personally, I would prefer to disown them and keep my money. If you want to give away money no-strings-attached, then get out your checkbook and have yourself a party. Just leave my checkbook out of it, thank you.
You "charity-at-the-point-of-a-gun" Democrats make me sick.
You don’t know me, you don’t know what I THINK.
You make assumptions about people when nothing has been said to indicate that.
Therefore, YOU are *being* hope.
*beyond*
Stop saying that you want to keep stealing our money & I’ll stop taking you at your word.
You're right, and that was my bad. More accurately, my original post should have been, "I am sick of hearing about, reading about, and being taxed to support the poor."
Cool. I call for a complete end to government-provided welfare, and a corresponding reduction in taxes. People can then give to private charities (like Salvation Army) to help the poor (and who will likely do it a hell of a lot more efficiently), or can directly help out needy individuals they know, and thus directly honor God.
You do not have the right to be generous with other people's money.
I don't want to own anybody. If somebody is demanding that I subsidize their lives, I feel I have the right to demand conditions.
Better solution: eliminate welfare entirely. Each person can pick somebody who needs help, help them personally, and do so under any conditions they choose.
You know, that is a silly argument. America has always been generous with taxpayer dollars. Look at what we give to other countries - Iran after their massive earthquake, Haiti (all the time), Pakistan, etc. We rebuilt Japan and Europe and are rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan so they can blow it up again. Now Obama is giving billions to muslim countries. Yet you feel offended because poor AMERICANS are receiving a stipend to feed themselves and their children.
And how about “corporate welfare”. Where is the outrage for that? Ethanol subsidies to giant food companies. Tax breaks for oil companies. Wall Street bailouts to the tune of billions. Yet you and others want to demonize the poor in this economy with 17% unemployment and housing prices crashing.
Go peddle your feigned outrage somewhere else.
