Rather than just posting the link, why not write up a quick synopsis? Links disappear fairly rapidly. One of the benefits of FR is that stuff stays around a long time after it gets flushed down the MSM memory hole.

I was quite surprised when I heard Palin state that Paul Revere had warned the British that the colonists were waiting for them. Then I did my own independent research and by Gosh she was 100% correct. And her statement about them coming to take their guns was 100% correct. And the media relied on the poem for their research.

I now know the full story of what happened that fateful night. Thank you Sarah for the history lesson.

It isn’t “her take”, it’s a FACT!!!! But of course, a lib outfit like this must discredit Palin at every dishonest turn.

Your relative is ignorant. Paul Revere and the other members of their committee knew full well one of their members was a traitor who was reporting their meetings and deliberations to General Gage, including exact quotations of their spoken words in such gatherings. They did not know who the traitor was, but subsequent events eventually proved Dr. Church betrayed the Patriots for money to pay his debts. Since the Regulars knew and addressed Paul Revere by name on the road that night and put a pistol to his head with a threat to shoot, there was no good reason to deny what both sides already knew: Paul Revere was an express rider warming the Patriots of the Regulars' approach towards Lexington and Concord. It was a courageous and very dangerous bravado for Paul Revere to taunt and dissuade the Regular officers with the warning the Regulars would face 500 armed American Patriot militia if they chose to march onwards to Lexington and Concord. The traitor was Dr. Church. Paul Revere was a very courageous hero in this event.

Nothing to do with history, but with the way she stumbled and bumbled and struggled to come up with an answer. Like all of us, Sarah Palin is human and subject to human failings. People sometimes make mistakes and misspeak, especially when tired and/or distracted. So I seldom get too wrapped up in criticizing the occasional goofy thing a pol might say. Problem with Palin is, she does this sort of thing way too often. Makes me hesitate to support her, so I’ll remain uncommitted until much later in the process. In the meantime, I’ll call it like I see it with all the candidates. Tough love is sometimes the best. I don’t want conservatives to do what the left did with Obama. Other qualities are equally as important as whether or not a candidate is a “true” conservative.

regardless of whether or not Sarah palin should be supported in an election, your comment that she stumbled and bumbled says more about you than it does about her. She spoke in a circumstance which did not call for scripts, speeches, or teleprompters. Despite the gargantuan efforts to make it falsely appear otherwise, her comments about the history and Paul Revere warning the British officers against attacking the American Patriots were precisely correct and exactly to the point of her theme about not taking on an alarmed Patriot citizenry.

I appreciate her educating me on an aspect of Paul Revere's ride that I didn't know. I thought I knew a lot about history, but the older I get, the more I realize how little I know. I watched Oliver North's War Stories - The Battle of Midway, last night with my 16 year old son. It was on hulu http://www.hulu.com/watch/68799/war-stories-with-oliver-north-battle-at-midway. I didn't know about large wooden pegs being drilled into the side of the Yorktown to get her operational between Coral Sea and Midway.

You are mistaken and repeating an erroneous mtyh. Paul Revere and the other colonists commonly used the terms: British Troops, British officers, and Regulars. You can find the terms in use throughout their contemporaneous letters and documents, songs, and broadsides

I call it like I see it. The very fact that she later issued a clarification says she also thought so. The history lesson is a cover for her initial struggle to come up with an answer. Like I said, she’s human and subject to all human failings. So I don’t hold one or a few stumbles against her (or anyone else). But Sarah Palin has a tendency to speak this way. Could be her folksy speech habits, or could be she just blurts out whatever pops into her mind at the moment. I don’t know. Makes me hesitate to support her. Even if I eventually do, I’ll never be the kind of slavish fan many are here.

So, you declare her guilty of something she did not do, and then you declare her to be guilty for defending herself against the false accusations. With friends and supporters like you, why would she need any enemies? I say this while not being a supporter of Sarah Palin as a candidate.

BTW, I don’t see near as much of an issue with the form of her answer as you. Esp given the circumstances (no teleprompter, not a prepared speech, etc.) Definitely a Palin supporter, near to a Palinista here. That said, I also like some of the other candidates a lot, esp Cain and DeMint. And West, but sadly he’s not running - he’s my hands down favorite. Hoping for Palin/West or Cain/Palin now.

I didn't declare her guilt of anything. This is not a court of law, but of public opinion and, in my opinion, her first answer made her look dumber than a post. You have a different take, fine. But these two facts undercut the slavish attempts to cover for her: (1) Palin felt the need to clarify her original comment, and (2) the clip went "viral" on the internet. If it was just a garden-variety historical comment, the clip would not have done so.

Look, it's wonderful -- really -- that Palin has such a devoted following. Despite my current misgivings, if she does become the Republican nominee, I will vote for her. But she is a human being, not some perfect caricature of one. Her supporters need to stop being so slavishly defensive of her. All human beings, including Sarah Palin, will make mistakes. Get over it and support her in more constructive ways.

Regulars, Redcoats, yes. I don’t find disparaging remarks about “British.”

Fortunately the idiots that listen to the mediots would never vote for any conservative, and have no effect on her.

Palin is well on her way to victory, and the only thing than could harm her campaign is if she allows morons like the trolls on this thread to coax her into announcing too soon.

Palin rules!
