Giving Away the Farm--Obama admin is freely giving Russia sensitive info about missile defense
Foreign Policy ^ | JUNE 7, 2011 | JAMES WOOLSEY, REBECCAH HEINRICHS

President Barack Obama's administration recently threatened to veto the defense budget, citing "serious concerns" over provisions that limit the U.S. missile defense know-how that the White House is permitted to share with Moscow. This is the sort of information that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, in his earlier days, would have assigned his spies to steal. Through its single-minded pursuit of "resetting" relations with Russia, the Obama administration may simply be willing to hand over this information and, in doing so, weaken U.S. national security.

Only two days after issuing the veto threat -- and as Obama tried to warm Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to U.S. missile defense plans at the G-8 Summit in Deauville, France -- the House of Representatives passed the defense bill. It included the provision that the president's team finds so offensive: Section 1228 requires that no funds can be used to provide the Russian Federation with sensitive U.S. missile defense technology.

This act of congressional prudence did not come out of nowhere. The Senate debate over New START raised questions about what the Obama administration may have promised Moscow regarding U.S. missile defense plans. The debate stemmed from the treaty's preamble, which linked offensive and defensive weapons, and a Russian unilateral statement that stated ratification of the treaty was conditional on whether the United States made improvements to its missile defense systems. In a treaty about reducing offensive weapons, it was clear the Russians required the Obama administration to include U.S. defenses in the bargain.

With that issue still unresolved, Congress discovered that the administration has been working on a missile defense agreement with the Russians and that Moscow had requested that the United States share with it loads of sensitive U.S. missile defense technology and operational authority as part of that deal...

This will permit the Russians to defeat our missile defenses during a war.

Why is this not TREASON???

Maybe (.)bama should watch the recent HBO doc Too Big To Fail. One scene in it has the Chinese telling a US official we need to get our debt house in order as they had received a proposal from the Russian gov (Putin) to mutually dump all US debt in a way to bring down the US. Seems to me some country that inclined to bring down the US financially as they cannot do it physically is not one we should be giving away the defensive farm to.

BTW, unlike most HBO stuff, I fould this one fairly well on the mark with minimal leftist bias.

I’m not so worried about the Russians as the Iranians they pass the information to. Study up on EMP folks, unless we dodge a bullet, it’s coming.

We’re pretty much screwed. The BRICs are getting ready to exist in a post-American-dollar world. We’ll be Argentina With Nukes, only much less stable socially.

I’m sure there is a lot of Russian Lobbyist money being passed out on Capital Hill so this deal can be made. I mean, “what’s the big deal about a few secrets” versus a comfortable retirement for a Senator or Congressman???

Ping.

From the article: “The letter, spearheaded by Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), requested the administration provide the Senate with assurances that it will not share sensitive information with Moscow. The senators cited the problem that sharing this information with Russia poses in light of its history of espionage and technological cooperation with Iran and Syria.”

“Tehran is thumbing its nose at Washington and doubling down on its missile program.”

Obama will not be happy as long as the United States can defend itself.

...the provision that the president's team finds so offensive: Section 1228 requires that no funds can be used to provide the Russian Federation with sensitive U.S. missile defense technology.

Moscow had requested that the United States share with it loads of sensitive U.S. missile defense technology and operational authority as part of that deal. In the administration's eagerness to please the Kremlin, it may just oblige.

the administration's consideration of granting to the Russians sensitive U.S. technology and "red button" authority to prevent the interception of incoming missiles headed for U.S. troops or allies. This would allow Russia to deny the United States the ability to intercept a missile Washington had determined to be a threat.

Could it be the regime is laying a trap for the next President in 2012? Have they taken the ‘playing politics’ to the democrat party’s treasonous end?

Knowing 0bama won’t be re-elected, they are setting the ‘world’ stage to bring the next leader of the free world to their knees.

The playing pieces:

0bama’s apologies to the world.
Regime’s involvement in the Arab Spring.
Recent revelations regarding African nations and involvement there.
Pakistan kicking out 2/3’s of the American traniners
Obama’s trip to India and outsourced job creation there.
Belize oil drilling.

I fear we will be forced into isolationistism again only this time without the industrial base we enjoyed last time we were in that mode.

“Argentina with nukes,” once the dollar loses its status as the world’s reserve currency.

Which is happening now.

Kirk’s a decidedly uneven conservative, liking all too much to play footsie with the Dems. But he’s smart and principled—and deserves credit for this.

Some legal rulings are based on past decisions. Letting Slimy Willy Klinton get away with this to China has set the legal precedent that it is not treason.

The Constitution says that treason is a capital offense.

Traitors should be executed.

If we do not elect a true reformer next year, this country is going to be preached a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel. Sadly, watering the tree of liberty means introducing people to Jesus in the non-evangelical manner.

“Here’s hoping that the White House comes to its senses and stops trying to use a degradation in U.S. national security to purchase a Russian “reset.””

NOT THE POINT. The point is the intentional destruction of the power of our security over our lands, and our allies that has made America the most powerful Nation in history, and the subjugation of our peoples to elitism for the purpose of a NWO.

Eliminate the power of the United States, and they eliminate the defense of the entire free world as we know it. The enemies of freedom will quickly subjugate the entire World to their will. That is their goal as I see it.
