Obama Unveils Plan to Train U.S. Engineers (Hide your wallets, Obama has a "plan".)

President Obama, in what he described as an "all-hands-on-deck strategy" to boost the economy, announced a new program Monday aimed at training 10,000 new American engineers every year.

The engineering announcement was one of several touted by the president during a visit Monday to North Carolina, where he toured a plant of energy-efficient lighting manufacturer Cree, Inc., and met with his jobs council to discuss the new initiatives.

Last week, the president announced a new training program in the manufacturing sector. The program he unveiled Monday would try to ensure U.S. engineering students have the skills to qualify for openings that companies sometimes struggle to fill.

"We're falling behind in the very fields we know are going to be our future. ... We must do better than that," Obama said.

Under the program, Obama said private companies will join the government to promote education in science, technology, engineering and math. They'll offer incentives to students to finish their degrees and help universities pay for their engineering programs.

That’s 10,000 new engineers every year.

So he’s figuring a way for all those unemployed young adults to be distracted and go after the newest carrot he’s dangling. With help from the government, of course. He doesn’t cares if there’s no job when they’re through with their education. Keep ‘em busy now.

His false hope of future employment should keep them idolizing him through the 2012 election campaign.

I’ll bet that it involves billions of dollars to pay for the tuition of certain favored minorities to take engineering studies in college.

These are affirmative-actioned engineers.

It would be racist to expect Eric Holder's people to pass actual engineering courses that non-affirmative actioned engineers must pass.

And people who aren't Eric Holder's people need not apply.

Obama is a moron. Half the engineers in the USA are currently out of work. What are we going to do with 10,000 more of them? The guy is an idiot.

"Obama is a moron. Half the engineers in the USA are currently out of work."

...and in any given working day in their profession they probably applied more education than comrade obama will acquire in a lifetime.

One of our younger relatives is a VP for a heavy duty construction company.

A few years ago, he and his project managers started interviewing/seeing so called engineering graduates with severe math and physic limitations. They complained to the universities and were told that their graduates were well rounded and diversified people.

One can only imagine the outcomes, when the PC 0b0z0 thugs force more black/hispanic/queer/lesbian studies into the engineering classes as well as pc hiring.

This same young relative quit a good job over a decade ago with a similiar company based out of Gay Frisco. The company had ‘promoted’ a secretary and printed up cards noting that she was an assistant project manager. Then, they demanded that our relative put her on his team and make sure she succeeded. He resigned, and that company went out of business shortly after that critical event.

My neighbor across the street is a former Ford engineer. He now drives a bus for Disney World.

10,000 new engineers a year?

Disney doesn't have that many busses.

“...enforce IP laws...”

It is the broken patent system that is a big part of the problem. Patent trolling lawyers have bought up many patents just for the purpose of suing any business that would dare bring a product to market.

Paying off trolls who are just sitting on patents has become a necessary expense of getting any manufacturing business going. Patent abuse is killing what industries are left in America.
