Why Can’t I Connect With Michele Bachmann? (Vanity)
June 16, 2011 | Vanity

Posted on 06/16/2011 5:26:37 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Michele Bachmann should have me ringing doorbells and doing conservative flips to get her elected but she isn’t and I don’t know why.

She looks great on paper. She expresses conservatism clearly. She understands the dire situation we’re in and the remedies. She’s energetic and pleasant. She goes after the agent of our destruction. She can debate. She is attractive. She has a compelling life story.

So what’s wrong?

When Michele Bachmann is on TV or radio, or I read her words in print, she has my attention and I agree with her but as soon as she’s off the air or I move to another story, she’s lost to my mind.

I can’t be the only one who has this Michele Bachmann “condition.” This bothers me because TURNOUT will be what decides this election. TURNOUT will bring us a bullet proof Senate. TURNOUT will keep Democrat voter fraud from giving Obama 4 more years. TURNOUT will bring more states under GOP control. We need a standard bearer candidate that Americans will rally behind in earnest -- TURN OUT!

The roster of GOP candidates is varied and I will vote for the one who wins the primary. I don’t think Romney has “it.” I know Newt won’t make the grade, again – can’t. Huntsman – phewt. Ron Paul – keeps our feet to the fire but won’t beat Obama. Santorum – he had me once but now he just seems to be saying his lines. Pawlenty – I keep working on remembering that he’s in the race. Cain – another conservative voice of sanity but won’t beat Obama.

Two candidates not yet on the list – Sarah Palin and Rick Perry – they make me want to campaign for their election! They fire me up! I see them as carrying the flag and rallying the great silent majority of voters. They have “it” in spades. I want to win back the White House! Obama must go!

So what is it? I’ve tried to figure this out logically but I keep hitting an emotional wall.

Does Michele Bachmann’s energy belong in the legislature and not the executive? (Something I see as Newt’s problem (among others) – he played a big part in orchestrating the 1994 takeover, then let it wilt away – he’s not executive material, but rather a good back-bench workhorse).

I’d like your thoughts.

Michelle Bachmann is the girl who has made it clear she wants to go to the prom with YOU, but your heart is holding out, waiting to see if you will be able to convince that OTHER GIRL to go.

Spoken by a true master of the human heart. However, I don't think so.

There is a spirit of disingenuousness about Michelle. I hear her words but do not sense the warmth of her heart. Sarah, on the other hand, holds my heart in her hand.

It does get old. Pump up the person who is not running and trash the ones that are.

Hello Obama for 4 more. LOL

I am amazed at the newer signups telling older signups “how it’s done”. FR hashes things out. If you don’t like how it’s done on FR then look elsewhere. THIS is what FR is all about. And as the election is over a year away, there’s going to be a LOT of “hashing it out”.

I take the Mark Levin view of things:

“I’ll vote for an empty orange juice can over Obama in 2012.”

:)

“Backmann is not the enemy”? lol. We have preaching that “Sarah is not the enemy, too”. WHat a mess and a brilliant move by the MSM. The girls better work this out for the sake of the goal......

I like Bachman too. However, the battle that has to be fought in the near future is going to be a vicious, bloody, mud-slinging battle and Michelle seems not to have that attack feature in her personality.
This is it! Our last chance to reclaim our country and it’s values and heritage. The candidate we choose has to be as hard as steel and totally uncompromising in their values along with an extremely aggressive mannerism. This is all out war!
Bachman is highly intelligent and focused on the pecuniary problems of our country but lacks the “junk yard attack dog” personality that will be required for the upcoming battle.

Well said!!!

Let it be said here and now: I will vote for the Republican candidate...whoever that turns out to be (please refer to my tagline).

Now that's out of the way....Mrs. Bachmann has no idea how false, viscious, and gang minded the far left and the msm can be. She'll learn. One wonders how Mrs. Bachmann would do if the msm asked for and received all of her e-mails since she's been in congress.

We do not need a re-actor. We do not need someone who fights well only after receiving a dislocated shoulder or smashed mouth.

We NEED an attack dog. We NEED a candidate who stands firmly on conservative values, principles, and the US Constitution (as written), and has always done so. If this becomes devisive - so be it. We NEED a clear headed, no nonsense, offensive minded candidate. Let the other side...and the weee willy rinos worry about "fractures in the party". They should.

This election is indeed about TURNOUT. And come hell or high water, we'd better elect the nominee from the Republican party.

To do that, we need a leader. Solid, offensive minded, grounded, unchanging, with clear, unequivocal positions on policy and government. We NEED a Patton.

She is waiting....learning....doing recon....studying weaknesses....practicing....endlessly practicing....reading...recognizing strengths....finding vulnerabilities....

Patience.....patience....

Wait for it!

Keep the faith....

The first primary is six months from now. Why anyone has announced their candidacy at this point simply baffles me. The only reason to announce this early is to generate publicity and name recognition.

Sarah certainly doesn’t need to announce her candidacy to generate international publicity. All she needed to do was to load up the RV and go on a family vacation.

Bingo! Anyone is better than obama from who is running so far.

Are you people seriously saying that if Bachmann is not the nominee next year compared to the communist destroyer obama you guys will stay home over a petty slight from her campaign manager?

By next year, if Bernie Madoff were the GOP nominee I would find it in myself to connect with him in order to defeat obama.

I really like her. I really like Palin, too. I am proud of these conservative women who uphold tradition and yet possess all the values and qualities any feminist should admire.

I think Palin should not run for Pres, she should stay in the public as the ‘inspiration’ for conservative values. She is so charismatic. Bachman...I like her style and what she represents. I think Palin could replace Oprah...and I wish she would consider a daily TV presence much like Oprah.

If Bachman got the nomination I would vote for her. But I would vote for Howdy Doody if he was running against Obama.

Whatever the case is, all I am saying is that we need all hands on deck and need to defeat obama in 2012, period.

“... Obama is the one we must train our attacks on ...”
///
great post. great points.

however, someone needs to tell Bachmann this!
and yes, you’re correct, most don’t know Rollins.
...but Bachmann HIRED Rollins. Knowing what he’d already written attacking Palin, months before.
and Rollins immediately attacked Sarah, who’s not running,
instead of attacking Romney, a Rhino who IS running and is the front-runner...?

Yet Bachmann didn’t fire him, or even rebuke him.
(and in the debate, she refused to even answer a SPECIFIC question about Romneycare...?)

hiring Rollins shows a lot about her leadership and character. supporting ethanol subsidies and NOT attacking Romneycare, shows a lot about her policies.

and yes, i like Sarah. but, i am more and more supporting Herman Cain. he has said some AMAZING things in the past week. He is a brilliant man, with great ideas.
he has shown great courage, and has been attacked viciously by the left, which tells me a lot.

Cain would make a great conservative President.

In picking a President we aren’t supposed to be looking for a spouse.

Now wonder we have such a mess. I don’t need a personal connection, I just want someone to do a good job.

But yes, the orange juice can will get my vote.

I absolutely agree. It has to be Perry and Palin. There is no other options. Bachmann’s choice of Ed Rollins sealed her fate and she will not recover from this attack dog that belittles Sarah Palin for no reason than she is competition. How small minded are we. Sarah Palin in NOT the enemy. BHO is. Can Republicans get that through their thick heads? Say no ill of another Republican. We can’t endure four more years of Barack. We won’t survive it.

RE :"Here we go again. Another thread where the Palin or Nothing crowd endlessly trash Bachmann while Palin has not even decided to run for POTUS. Yawn"

This vanity poster didnt Trash Palin but a number of the commenters are, If Palin actually doesnt become a candidate but waits will next year to 'make her decision' by then every single candidate and potential candidate will have been trashed by some here.

The first primary is nit for six months. I am not going to start throwing my money and support behind a second tier candidate unless and until the first tier conservative candidates have definitively ruled out running. Palin is my first choice with Perry running a distant second. The candidates who have already announced are way down the ladder in my book. Bachmann is not going to win the nomination. I cannot see that happening. She is running for Mitt’s VP slot.

If I were Palin or Perry I would not announce until late August or early September. Why? Because they don’t need to.

“She’s a House Representative. Big deal. Let her accomplish something. Then run for Pres.”

My thoughts exactly. She hasn’t been around long enough and accomplished enough to be President (like Obama). Dont expect to go from middle management to CEO in one step. The fact that she does is a bit troubling.
