Why Can’t I Connect With Michele Bachmann? (Vanity)
June 16, 2011 | Vanity

Posted on 06/16/2011 5:26:37 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Michele Bachmann should have me ringing doorbells and doing conservative flips to get her elected but she isn’t and I don’t know why.

She looks great on paper. She expresses conservatism clearly. She understands the dire situation we’re in and the remedies. She’s energetic and pleasant. She goes after the agent of our destruction. She can debate. She is attractive. She has a compelling life story.

So what’s wrong?

When Michele Bachmann is on TV or radio, or I read her words in print, she has my attention and I agree with her but as soon as she’s off the air or I move to another story, she’s lost to my mind.

I can’t be the only one who has this Michele Bachmann “condition.” This bothers me because TURNOUT will be what decides this election. TURNOUT will bring us a bullet proof Senate. TURNOUT will keep Democrat voter fraud from giving Obama 4 more years. TURNOUT will bring more states under GOP control. We need a standard bearer candidate that Americans will rally behind in earnest -- TURN OUT!

The roster of GOP candidates is varied and I will vote for the one who wins the primary. I don’t think Romney has “it.” I know Newt won’t make the grade, again – can’t. Huntsman – phewt. Ron Paul – keeps our feet to the fire but won’t beat Obama. Santorum – he had me once but now he just seems to be saying his lines. Pawlenty – I keep working on remembering that he’s in the race. Cain – another conservative voice of sanity but won’t beat Obama.

Two candidates not yet on the list – Sarah Palin and Rick Perry – they make me want to campaign for their election! They fire me up! I see them as carrying the flag and rallying the great silent majority of voters. They have “it” in spades. I want to win back the White House! Obama must go!

So what is it? I’ve tried to figure this out logically but I keep hitting an emotional wall.

Does Michele Bachmann’s energy belong in the legislature and not the executive? (Something I see as Newt’s problem (among others) – he played a big part in orchestrating the 1994 takeover, then let it wilt away – he’s not executive material, but rather a good back-bench workhorse).

I’d like your thoughts.

The question to ask is who has the "spine of steel" to stop this out of control government?

Difference is Bachmann has a record of votes on National Issues, giving her a track record that can be perused. Palin has no National Voting Record and has merely stated her opinions. Palin can be anything and everything you want her to be at this point, like that perfect girl you dream over until you date her and find out she chews with her mouth open! lol

As Shakespeare explained it.......One man's speech is followed by "That was a great speech" Another man's speech is followed by "Let's follow him"!! One is a great talker who men will listen to, the other is a great LEADER who men will follow.

Michelle Bachmann is to Sarah Palin what Roger Maris was to Mickey Mantle.

Bachmann has all the right ideas...while Palin is a great leader

I was referring to some of the posters who trash EVERYONE not named Sarah.

We need to get obama out of office. If it takes Joran Vandersloot or Charles Manson to do it, so be it.

I can't speak for you, only for myself. This is the primary reason that I never get emotionally involved with political candidates.

You may have invested all of your emotional energy into one candidate already, a candidate who has not yet even made a commitment to you or other voters.

Now, you are running on faith, and almost religious worship of a candidate who is below average compared to other candidates in the current race, as well as from the past. And your candidates qualifications have been embellished and exaggerated and in some cases, greatly so.

But you see your candidate as a savior, almost divine, perfect and cannot see yourself with any other. Which, immediately illustrates why I refuse to let my emotions cloud my judgment.

No human being deserves to be raised to the level that some have raised your candidate. To do so is not only dangerous, it is how the greatest tyrants in history came to power. A prime example of that sycophantic worship, currently occupies the White House. He certainly did not get there by his own ability or merit.

....we NEED a Patton...

31 MAY 1944 - 6th Armored Division: "Now there's another thing I want you to remember. I don't want to get any messages saying that we are holding our position. We're not holding anything, we'll let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly, and we're not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose, and we're going to kick him in the ass. We're going to kick the hell out of him all the time, and we're going to go through him like crap through a goose. Now, there's one thing that you men will be able to say when you get back home, and you may thank God for it. Thirty years from now when you're sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee, and he asks you, What did you do in the great World War Two? You won't have to say, Well, I shoveled shit in Louisiana. Alright now, you sons of bitches, you know how I feel. I will be proud to lead you wonderful guys into battle anytime, anywhere. That's all."

The first primary is six months from now. Why anyone has announced their candidacy at this point simply baffles me.

It takes time to raise money. It takes time to use that money to put an organization into place. How can you not grasp this?

All of the conservatives running now need time to amass a war chest in the hopes of beating Romney. This is Capt Obvious stuff here and so many don't get it.

Even Palin will need a ground game, organization and funds if she runs. She also needs to be in some debates. Don't believe she won't offend potential voters by dithering.

Fair enough.

Now explain that to all the millions of voters who will or WON’T get to the polls to vote in the next presidential election.

Second that. But what can you do, Palin has the most passionate supporters. Also the most passionate enemies.

I’m still a loyal Herman Cain fan.

The man came out of the gate running and not looking back to see which way the wind was blowing.

I am looking for a leader who wants to lead, not follow polls, political correctness or party pressure.

Her hiring of Rollins is what bothers me the most. I do think she is “leadership” material, & I don’t think she is an opportunist, but I now have doubts about her character.

RE :"We need to get obama out of office. If it takes Joran Vandersloot or Charles Manson to do it, so be it."

I cant agree with you on that, it's too open ended,

But I do agree that trashing every single candidate and potential candidate to promote a non-candidate could end up very counter-productive; and if in the end Palin endorses any of them, those posters could end up eating their words.

“Bachmann was an incredible contender .... until
Rollins for Romney finished her off.”

My thoughts as well. Now she can go pee up a rope as far as I’m concerned.
ME THREE!
Also we know a lot more about Sarah. Hiring the thug for a campaign manager makes me wonder what else may come out about Michelle.

Because it is intuitive that the next presidency will face several severe foreign policy and military challenges.........and she hasn’t articulated she could handle it.

Whatever the case is, all I am saying is that we need all hands on deck and need to defeat obama in 2012, period.

Exactly!

And why I was asking for some help in making that connection with Michele Bachman (others also seem to agree).

WE NEED ALL HANDS ON DECK to beat Obama. A close race means the Democrats will push him over the top with voter fraud.

The nominee must ignite the party and drive them to the polls -- blow right through the MSM.

Palin is set to have a two hour infomercial about her leadership released in theaters next month. If she were to announce her candidacy at this point, then the movie could be viewed as some kind of illegal campaign contribution and it would open the floodgates for litigation.

She will announce in late August or early September after the theater run and before the DVD release.

In the meantime, the other candidates can embarrass themselves by going to debates and diminishing their stature by answering such important questions as "deep dish or regular crust".

Elections have consequences. Do them right in the first place. Staying home to prove a personal selfish point is what helped get us in this mess in the first place.

Here again, is the main reason to not let your emotions rule your logical processes.

Cain – another conservative voice of sanity but won’t beat Obama.

I don't agree. I think Obama would crash and burn badly in a head-to-head match-up against Cain. The debates alone would be a pure joy to watch.

And Cain absolutely takes the race card off the table. Obama's supporters would obviously try to paint Cain as an Uncle Tom, but that will only make Obama look even more ridiculous than he already does.
