Obama attracting more small donors

Reporting from Washington— President Obama's next major fundraising filing will show a dramatic increase in the number of small donors so far this year compared with 2008, his campaign said Saturday.

"We had 180,000 contributors at this point in the last campaign; now it's well over 300,000," said spokesman Ben LaBolt in an email previewing the upcoming filing. LaBolt declined to elaborate except to say in his note that the filing will show "small dollar contributors back in greater numbers."

His email came a day after the Los Angeles Times/Tribune reported that the campaign had ramped up its efforts to lure large donors, including a new program called Presidential Partners that asks wealthy individuals to commit to giving $75,800 to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint project of the campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

What happened to all the BIG donors?

Interesting that LaBolt didn't disclose dollars. Betcha it's down from last time.

Everybody is a small donor these days thanks to three years of Obama economic policies.

Barry the fraudster had hundreds of thousands of pre-paid debit card donors in ‘08. He has enough social security numbers in his name and the wookie’s name that he can collect millions wihtout having to list the party making the donation.

So they are saying a sitting president is getting more donations a year and half out than he did as a relative unknown 18 months out of the last election? Seems like an obvious outcome.

This is undoubtedly campaign finance crime before our very eyes. Only large donors get scrutinized. It’s much more difficult to check into 10,000 donors at $10 each than it is to check into 50 donors at $2,000 each. So George Soros, and various overseas (illegal) donors just have people submit small amounts in various fictitious names.

He did it in the last campaign and from the sound of it, he’s doubling down on this one.

I think they don’t even have to report amounts smaller than $200 - anyone?

He either bankrupted a lot of the big ones or at least greatly reduced their net worth.

Hope and Change!

What’s he going to do remove all the controls again like last time so untraceable cash cards can be used to create the impression of small donors and evading limits on donations? The media won’t talk about that since they will do everything in their power to protect him and get him reelected.
