Russian scientists expect humanity to encounter alien civilisations within the next two decades, a top Russian astronomer said on Monday.
"The genesis of life is as inevitable as the formation of atoms ... Life exists on other planets and we will find it within 20 years," said Andrei Finkelstein, director of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute, according to the Interfax news agency.
Speaking at an international forum dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial life, Finkelstein said 10% of the known planets circling suns in the galaxy resemble Earth.
If water can be found there, then so can life, he said, adding that aliens would most likely resemble humans with two arms, two legs and a head.
"They may have different colour skin, but even we have that," he said.

But I must also add, there is a slim chance life outside earth has already been detected or discovered which hasn’t been revealed to the general population. I don’t know. But if this were the case, there would be a whole host of reasons why entities/governments would “hold off” revealing that information.

What happens when the Aliens make contact and then promptly tell us about all the Alien wars going on in the universe. What will the Left do? How will they continue to chase their precious utopian schemes when it is revealed that all of the negative human attributes are not uniquely human at all, but rather that human beings simply reflect the universal truths inherent in all life forms?
Much of their appeal to the ignorant rests upon the fact that there is no other frame of reference for us to judge ourselves by other than our own. Think about it.
What if a peaceful Alien race made contact with us tomorrow. They had superior technology and could effortlessly provide ongoing free energy, food, housing, medical care etc. to everyone on the planet. What if the Utopia they incessantly posit could exist “but if only”... actually materialized before the end of next week?
What would they do? Bereft of purpose and the possibility for personal glorification what would they do?
How long do you think it would take before they started complaining about the “oppressive” Alien created utopia. How long would it be before they began to lead the revolution to deliver us from the invisible chains of slavery that came along with the actual realization of a real utopia. Do you think they could, for even a second, just sit back while the entire human race went off on their own, in a multitude of different directions, no longer needing them in any way whatsoever?
